Multi-platinum Gospel singer Kirk Franklin ended 2013 by appearing at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in Johannesburg, singing his hit "My Life is in Your Hands." It capped a relatively quiet year compared to the year prior, which saw Franklin on tour in support of his Grammy-winning 2011 release, Hello Fear, his fifth solo album. Fans who bought tickets to those concerts saw Franklin perform on a package tour dubbed The King's Men Tour with Donny McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Israel Houghton.
Over the course of his two-decade music career, Texas native Franklin has been broadening the reach and scope of Gospel music. He's brought a more contemporary spin to the genre, and has found success by infusing his music with elements of modern soul, R&B and hip-hop. Franklin's musical talent was evident from a very young age; he was offered his first record deal at age 7, but the aunt who raised him turned it down. He continued to sing in his church choir, and signed his first recording contract when he was in his early 20s, after organizing the 17-member choir Kirk Franklin and the Family in 1992. The band's first album topped the U.S. Gospel charts for 42 weeks. Franklin went solo in 2001, first scoring and producing the film soundtrack Kingdom Come. His solo debut album, 2002's The Rebirth of Kirk Franklin, was an immediate crossover hit, topping Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart while also hitting No. 1 on the Gospel chart.
The show was so amazing, it is beyond words. God was in the house and everyone had such great performances!
The concert was everything! I'm still on a high! I was truly blessed!
Excellent singing and energy ! Everyone’s performance was great! The crowd was a vibe.
God's presence was definitely surrounded us that night. The main artists, background singers visual, sound was excellent and very professional. Please continue this tour for the 2024, and come back to Toronto. And if you do come back, please have the concert on a weekend!
Everything was perfect until I started getting a migraine from the bright white lights
This was a phenomenal concert. From the beginning to the end, we had such a wonderful time praising the Lord.
This is one the best concerts I have been too. The performances were great. The only issue I have is with the venue it was freezing in there. It felt like I came to see a hockey game instead of a gospel concert. Can’t wait to see what 2024 holds for gospel concerts 😀😀😀😀🔥🔥🔥👏🏽👏🏽
My sister came over and we had the best time. All the artists were incredible.
It was great. Deff a reunion. Connecting with friends and family.
I brought my sister to the show who recently lost her husband suddenly. At first I thought it would be triggering BUT for the first time after the funeral I saw her being strengthened & sooo positive. Great show
Best concert of 2023, Nothing but love for this one.
This was an amazing concert! Worth every penny! Everyone was 🔥🔥🔥
This was my first paid concert I attended with my sister and it was incredible. From the music to the lighting and the set..we danced, we sang along, and eventually lost our voices the next day lol. I’m looking forward to future concerts in Toronto.
It was amazing, enjoyed every minute. It was nice to see all performers were on one accord; no one tried to out do each other. I can tell they were prayed up prior to the show. Was so nice to see so many young people in attendance and was really worshipping. When is the next show; we are ready!!!!!!
Most organized, best concert I’ve ever attended! Kirk and the team put on an excellent show and gave us a spirit filled experience
The experience, the music, the talent, the nostalgia, the energy, the production we’re all on point!
That might’ve been one of the best concerts I’ve been to. The Clarke sisters were amazing. The start time was a little late, but even then it built anticipation for the show. Hope they have one more show for my family to see
The voices of angels. The best sound and the best voices!
What an incredible concert! It was an entertaining, spiritual, joyous event. Well paced and balanced. There was something for everyone to enjoy. I will definitely go to another Kirk Franklin concert again!
Unbelievable experience--awesome mix of funk, & hip hop with flawless gospel. Chilling to hear a hall full of people singing in time and in 3 part harmony--this is something that doesn't really ever happen at rock concerts! Extreme value and amazing experience!
