About

Canadian artist Leith Ross has been writing songs since they were a 12-year-old on the outskirts of Ottawa, Ontario. While pursuing a jazz voice degree at Humber College in Toronto, Ross penned eight songs for a final school project that would become their debut EP: 2020's Motherwell. While in college, Ross came out as gay and later trans/non-binary. "That one specifically has been a constant, difficult journey of realizing that I'm going to have to come out a million times a month for the rest of my life, especially entering music spaces," Ross told The Luna Creative in 2022.

Ross followed Motherwell with a second EP in 2021, I'd Have to Think About It, and in 2022, landed a viral hit with their song "We'll Never Have Sex." NME has described Ross as "Gen Z's new favorite indie songwriter," and their melancholic sound draws inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers, Feist, Lucinda Williams, and classic Disney films.

The singer-songwriter's live performances showcase enchanted vocals, introspective lyrics and a delicately-strummed guitar. Leith Ross' 2022 tour took them across Europe and North America, and they'll again tour in 2023 in support of their 2023 debut album, To Learn.

So much fun! Love their voice!! Was very personal and comforting. Not super loud, and peaceful crowd. Loved dancing and singing my heart out!

  • Absolutely mind blowing

First off, Cassidy Mann opening was amazing. Since the venue was on the small side it felt a lot more personal and less of a performance. Then Leith and their whole amazing band came on and we’re so sweet to all of us. They had the idea of a question box that they would answer between songs and that made the show not just a concert, but a comedy show that made all of us laugh. 10/10 recommend seeing them again at the next tour.

cassidy as the opening, leith ross, and the whole band were absolutely amazing. it was my first ever concert attending and it literally made me ascend. so much tears shed, so many smile wrinkles created, it was beautiful. it was definitely a core memory for me <3

  • Absolutely incredible experience!

by JL on 2023-06-13The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Somehow, Leith and the band sounded even more incredible in person than they did in recordings! They cut down all the flashy-overdone stuff that most artists overuse and stripped their music down to purely vocals, instruments, and pure talent. Such an incredible experience, I would go back in a heartbeat.

  • An exceptional and emotional concert

by Alyssa on 2023-06-13The Danforth Music Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The emotional lyrics of Leith Ross are even more deeply impactful when played live. Their voice sounds exactly like you would hear on the recorded songs, if not better. Leith connects to the audience in a very genuine way, and it's clear that those in attendance appreciate this. Accompanied by a group of wonderful musicians including a guitar, mandolin, banjo, double bass, and drums, to name a few, this highly talented group brings the songs to life. The percussion and drums complement very well, shining without overpowering. Overall, the show is everything you could expect and more. I would recommend a Leith Ross concert to anyone.
