About

With a career spanning more than 20 years, Lisa Stansfield is one of the most well-known soul singers of this generation. A string of hit singles and albums created mass popularity around the world, both in her native UK and Ireland and across Europe and here in the US. Known for making bold decisions, she is also an accomplished actress whose long break from recording ended in 2013 with the release of her first album in almost a decade.
Launched into the industry by a television talent show, her first solo album release in Great Britain went to No. 2 in the charts in 1989. The album, named Affection, went triple-platinum in the UK and its lead single ”All Around the World,” went to No. 1 in six countries, making Gold status in five charts and Platinum in the US. The follow-up, Real Love, was released in 1991, followed by So Natural in 1993 and her self-titled album, Lisa Stansfield, was released in 1997. This record also reached No. 2 in the Great British Album Chart, earning it Gold status, as a well as several of its singles reaching No. 1 in the United States charts. Next came Face Up in 2001 and The Moment in 2004, which charted well in the German market and made Gold status for her once more.
2014 will see the release of her latest project, Seven, which is set to relaunch her musical career alongside a string of tour dates and public appearances. Featuring the single “Can't Dance” and numerous others written by her long-term songwriting partner Ian Devaney, fans are eagerly awaiting its release. A tour of Europe in spring 2013 and further dates in October to November allowed glimpses of her new sound, featuring her timeless vocal set into contemporary soul pop tunes. Spring and summer 2014 will see her performing across Europe, in Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Bulgaria. Critics have praised her return to the stage.
Over the length of her career, Lisa Stansfield has been nominated for an incredible 59 awards, of which she has won an impressive 38. From three BRIT Awards in 1990, for Best Newcomer and for Best British Female in both 1991 and 1992, to one Billboard Music Video Award, via three DMC Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, one Silver Clef, one Women's World Award and two Grammy nominations, her collection of prizes is staggering. Her career is set to continue scaling these great heights for many more years.

    On your feet good times!

by TOConcertGoer on 2018-10-13Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Great selection of both new titles from the Deeper CD released earlier this year and hits from her dance music titles. After the first few songs, the audience was on their feet. Great back up with horns and sax, percussion, bass and electric/acoustic guitarists, two keyboard accompanists and back up vocals and of course drummer. Lisa can bring intimacy to ballads equally as well as power to her up-tempo hits Start time on tickets was wrong, as the doors had not opened at 7:00pm when the concert was supposed to start. Rushed down to Exhibition Place after work without dinner, and then had to wait in the lobby for more than 30 minutes until the auditorium opened. Really sloppy on the part of Live Ent

    High Energy

by Mismanagement on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Very talented musicians, great band. Lisa on form, v high energy, great voice, strong, and of course, love the English accent. Played some new songs and all the old hits / favourites. Everyone on their feet to "all around the world" and a subtle beautiful version of "naturel"...more than welcome anytime Lisa.

    Great concert experience overall

by wog32 on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Had a great night with Lisa Stansfield and her opening act was good as well. Only criticism was the ticket stated concert 7pm which was actually the time the doors opened. Opening act came on after 8 and Lisa sang from 9 til 10:30. Would have preferred the ticket to state doors opening time. Liisa maintains a great vocal range and can hit the high notes and dance across the stage , engage the audience extremely well. She had a great mix of her hits as well as some new songs from her current CD Deeper. The band was excellent and the solo performances with the sax and trumpet were amazing.

    "Bloody Brilliant!!!"

by OmegaMan on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Lisa put on a great show, she delivered an A+ concert, we were in the front row and she would sing and dance on the stage all over the place. Lisa's performance was fantastic; as she sang new songs from her new album Deeper we loved the live vibe of those songs and the crowd went crazy when Lisa sang some of the old hits from way back early in Lisa's career. We loved every minute of the concert.

Great show from a soul legend

by Mattb217 on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

She's still got soul. Tons of upbeat music had the crowd dancing practically the entire night - save for a few ballads.

by Andrejchenko on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Awesome concert although there was not even half theater full :-( Especially knowing the fact that she didn`t sing in Toronto for 20 yrs. However I had a great time and so the others surely ;-)

    Amazing Lisa!

by AzeriTorontonian on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Lisa’s performance was very raw, emotional and almost private in Toronto. The setlist included her best hits ever, along with new one. The Queens Theatre setting allowed Lisa to interact with audience non-stop! Loved it!

    Lisa Stansfield is still amazing!

by Carlo73 on 2018-10-12Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Toronto

Lisa performed a high energy and thrilling show with strong vocals! I was so impressed and absolutely blown away! I was not expecting her to perform all of her hits, but she did them all, plus a bunch of new fantastic songs from her new album, "Deeper". She did not stop moving the entire night. The entire audience was up on its feet! I adore her authenticity. She did not hide her displeasure with theater staff, who had some issues getting the sound right and had trouble turning off the air conditioning on the stage. I hope she will come back to Toronto again soon and hopefully next time there will be a bigger turn out for her, as the Queen Elizabeth Theater was about 60% full. I was not a big fan of this venue, as security could have been a bit better with keeping people from travelling up the aisles to stand in front of the stage the entire night. These people did not pay for a front row ticket...have some consideration and respect.
