Performance lackes sensuality and wow factor
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
The performance was more of a hybrid between classical and modern ballet. There was no show factor to it -the costumes and the stage light were very basic and lacking. The dancers were good, however there seemed to be no connection between the partners in any of the dance scenes, so the name "Love Rocks" was very misleading. Overall, i didn't like it and would not recommend it to my friends.

Love Rocks/Ears Bleed
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
The ballet troupe was fabulous. Olympic category athletes with such control and grace it was beautiful to watch. The choreography was exceptional. Whether it was solo or a whole group it held your attention to the very end. That said, the music was WAY TOO LOUD!!! The sound was distorted because of the volume and took away from the beauty of the dancing. It made that part of the night a painful experience. Next time we’ll bring earplugs to prevent “bleeding ears”.

Brilliant
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
The Complexions dancers are called "Super Athletes" and that is exactly what they were. I would have gone to all 3 shows to bask in their brilliance!

The first half was a struggle.
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
Rap and ballet should not be paired ever again. Humble opinion. The dancers were exquisite throughout!

Best Ballet for non-Ballet Persons
Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary
A feast of Movement, Music and Message. Great ballet dance along with subtle modern moves. A remarkable ballet that should be sought out by ballet enthusiasts and the rest of us!

Set to the music of Lenny Kravitz
Alberta Ballet is pleased to invite Complexions Contemporary Ballet to its 2022/23 season.
The company is celebrated for its innovation in using dance to remove boundaries, not reinforce them, and represents one of the most recognized, diverse, inclusive and respected performing arts brands in the world.
WOKE, which Complexions premiered in 2019, is a physical reaction to daily news. Set to music by Kendrick Lamar, Logic, Drake, Diplo and others, this production is a bold and dynamic socially conscious one-act ballet featuring the full company that examines our humanity in conjunction with today's political climate.
The second act, LOVE ROCKS, is set to the music of Grammy Award-winner Lenny Kravitz.
"Companies like Complexions are game- changing: they're forging a path for what ballet can be instead of what it historically has been."
