About

LUSH IN CONCERT:

Dream pop pioneers Lush thrilled fans in 2015 with the announcement that they were reuniting after nearly 20 years apart, and in early 2016 they further stoked the flames of excitement when they unveiled plans for their first North American tour since 1996 and released the EP Blind Spot featuring brand-new material. The band’s trademark noise rock-meets-Britpop sound is as strong and invigorating as ever, and singer/guitarists Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson are primed and ready to unleash a sonic tidal wave of rich vocal harmonies, distorted guitars, and swirling sound effects. To top things off, Justin Welch of Elastica is sitting behind the drum kit, and he’s sure to elevate the group’s rousing live shows to new heights. With an extensive catalog of crowd favorites like “Thoughtforms”, “Sweetness and Light”, and “Desire Lines” at the ready, the reunited Lush is sure to induce alt-rock euphoria in fans both new and old.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

School friends Miki Berenyi (vocals/guitar) and Emma Anderson (guitar/vocals) formed Lush in 1987 after their former band The Baby Machines split up. Their blend of fragile vocals and distorted guitars fit in perfectly with England’s burgeoning shoegaze scene and led to a deal with venerable British label 4AD. After they released their debut mini-album Scar in 1989, Lush amassed a loyal fanbase on tour opening for like-minded group Ride. Their full-length debut Spooky came out in 1992 and featured the group’s first UK top 40 hit “For Love”. For their third album, 1996’s Lovelife, the group focused on a contemporary Britpop sound and notched hits like “Ladykillers” and “Single Girl”. Unfortunately, just as the band was breaking into the mainstream, their drummer Chris Acland committed suicide and the grief-stricken group disbanded. After almost 20 years away from the stage, the band reunited in 2016 with Elastica’s Justin Welch on drums and released the EP Blind Spot. Lush has picked up where they left off, and shoegaze fans around the world can’t wait to witness the band’s signature sound in person.
