A Very Plain Shock Rocker
by Lexo on 2009-09-11Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryKnown for his theatrics fans were really expecting something big, especially at a location such as the Jubilee. Now for this type of music sitting down in seats was very odd, especially with a floor ticket. Have the experience is working your way up front and getting a feel for the sweat and excitement from the fellow fans. None the less the seating allowed for everyone to see, that is, until people stood on their chairs. The preformance itself was plain, and short. After the show we were able to hit up Denny's on the opposite side of the city for 10:30, not the usual late night experience a concert tends to be. Mason remained fully clothed for the entirity of his show. His most shocking stunts were grinding his microphone stand, and setting a bible on fire. Cliche. Where were the stilts? Where were the dramatic avant garde outfits? Where were the highly anticipated theatrics that Manson's shows have been famous for? Watching live footage, and documentaries one would expect a REAL preformance.with more then posterboards that say "WOW" and a desk lamp tied to the microphone. If this is all that Manson has to offer now I'd say this was too little, too late for Calgary, and Mason has definately passed his prime. The show was ok, the sound was acceptable although it could have been far more clear. The rest of his band just stood and did their thing so as not to take away from the very modest "Anti-Christ". What happened?
