This was the first time I'd ever seen Martin Sexton live and I was not disappointed. Despite the fact that this was his twenty fifth? show Martin kept pumping up the crowd with a good mix of spanking brand new tunes and a few oldies (Glory Bound, etc). And it wasn't just the band, the crowd was in really good spirits (perhaps there was a little help from the elements) - I don't think I've ever heard so many "sorry!" and "can you see?" in one room before. By the second half of the set, you could tell there was definitely some fatigue - but kudos to the drummer and organ/keyboard player (brothers) who just kept on smiling - in all honesty, they looked like they were the only two who really were soaking in every moment of the show at that point in time. But the crowd loved Martin and Martin for the most part seemed to love the crowd. Accolades to Mr. Ryan Montbleau who seduced all the ladies in the room (and by the looks of it a few boys) with his good-natured humour, quirky smile and catchy lyrics. Boys we'd welcome you back to Vancouver in an instant. Thanks for a very good night of music.
