The show was absolutely fabulous. I took my 4 year old granddaugter with me and this was her first exposure to live theatre. I would have loved to have had a video of the look on her face as she was just spellbound. Very special. I was absolutely blown away by the scenery and settings and how smoothly that all went. It was amazing to say the least. We both loved the tap dance scene as she has just finished her first set of tap lessons. Thought everyone was well cast and they all did a fabulous job. I would definitely recommend the show to anyone. It was very nice to have the special on for the children so it was affordable.

Rating: 4 out of 5 Brilliant numbers
by Meilin on 2012-07-21Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverI have to admit I was surprised to know the theatre version is totally different from Disney's, most number's are enjoyable and some famous numbers like Step in Time is just outstanding. I also admire the children who did most of the numbers and mostly on stage. Dance was OK. I want tighter one though.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Mary Poppins
by Teachers6 on 2012-07-20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverVery amazing . Happy, joyful. The lead characters were very good in their roles. The set changes drew "aahs" from the audience who had smiles on their faces throughout. Well worth the trip from Kamloops to Vancouver and the expenses involved with an overnight hotel stay.

Rating: 4 out of 5by Anonymous on 2012-07-20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver I thought May Poppins, the musical, was very good, however the set on the stage seemed smaller/ narrower than usual restricting my sightline on section LC. I felt bad for all the people who sat to the left of me who definitely would have had further difficultly in viewing the full stage and performers.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 2012-07-20Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver Stunning play. The singers were great, the stage was amazing, and fit for all ages. It's more suitable for kids than adults, but it seemed like the whole play (the movie!) was designed for Broadway. I liked it a lot better than Beauty and the Beast, whose stage setup was so poor that the visuals can be blocked from certain seats.

Rating: 1 out of 5 Scary Floppins was not Mary Poppins
by Anonymous on 2012-07-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverMy sister and I grew up with the original Mary Poppins movie and have shared with our children who also loved the classic movie - so not sure why the musical did not "attempt to faithfully re-stage the movie." as a review stated. That's why all the adults and kids were there in the first place. Not to see a recreation of the classic movie. men (statues) prouncing around with a fig leaf covering their genitals - their body suits still outlined their bums - what the heck was that all about?) Caribbean themed dancing - scary pop up "toys". We left at intermission and if it were possible would ask for a refund! If you are looking for the Mary Poppins you loved as a child - do not go see this! The guy who wrote the screenplay, obviously had an agenda! The people around me and their kids were obviously unimpressed as well by the looks of it. Oh yea, the special effects were terrible - why didn't Mary Poppins descend from the rafters, like the Bdway shows, Peter Pan and the beautiful chandelier in Phantom of the Opera - she just was standing on the stage.

by hurrayformusicals on 2012-07-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverI loved the whole show. It was one of my favorite movies as a child and the play did not disappoint. It was interesting to see a slightly different story line.I did miss the song" I Love to Laugh" though.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Mary Poppins was amazing
by ShellsBells39 on 2012-07-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverMy oldest daughter and I attended the Musical "Mary Poppins" on opening night. We had a blast, reminded me of when I was a kid and watched the movie over and over again. Even remembered all the words to the song, lol. I would recommend this event to all ages as it was a great family outing.

Rating: 5 out of 5 Mary Poppins was fantastic! Strongly Recommend!
by AJR555 on 2012-07-19Queen Elizabeth Theatre - VancouverI strongly recommend the Broadway show Mary Poppins! I took my 14 year old daughter and for almost 3 hours we were transported into a magical land of beautiful sets, exquisite costumes and wonderfully talented Actors. The singing and dancing was terrific and the show included many of the old favorites, with some new additions that were equally delightful. I am 49 years old and Mary Poppins was my first movie ever, and the live musical literally brought me back....I even had tears in my eyes, because the values the show represents are as important in today's world, and are just as applicable now in 2012 as they were all of those years ago! We loved, loved, loved the show.
