    Disappointed, not as engaging!

by rickandwillie on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Cannot compare to the first performance of Masters of Illusion. Magician card acts could not capture and keep our grandsons attention; granddaughter loved the humorous performance. We were disappointed as more than half the performers did not deliver even close to an engaging performance.

    OK I guess

by SV on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

I don’t really know what I was expecting exactly, but this definitely wasn’t it. Three very amateurish “illusionists” doing old and tired tricks and not very well. Impossible to see card tricks were the main focus. The comedy was the only redeeming aspect and even that was kind of flat at times. Might have been a decent show for a 100-seat venue full of kids, but I expected a lot more for a show in a venue of that size and calibre. We had floor seats and had a difficult time seeing what was going on. I felt bad for the folks on the balconies. Not worth the money. Won’t see them again.

    Not much razmataz

by RC on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

What a disappointing show that was overhyped marketing. For the price, we were expecting razzle dazzle and got snap pop and fizzle parlour card tricks that might have been entertaining in a school kids gymnasium but not at a venue like the Jubilee. Left at intermission. That should say it all.

    Boring

by Fidan on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The most boring show we have ever seen. Weak jokes, old tricks. No staging at all. We thought first 15 mintes it is a warm up, after we realised the whole show is this. We left earlier, as especially kids were bored. Very upset we spent 200$. Waste of money, waste of time. Never again. Organisers cancelled the show couple of times. They had to give a refund option, but they decided to collect as much money as they can. I would never attend this event and dont recommend others.

How many card tricks and cutting people do you need to see??

    The show was very entertaining.

Good for all ages. 3 very talented gentlemen. My grandson really enjoyed it.

    Worst Show, very little illusions

by Wendy on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Terrible production. Mostly card tricks that could only be seen by the first few rows. Cutting someone in half? Seen it. Nothing amazing whatsoever. I felt very sorry for the children that were there. Many people including myself left early.

The worse show I have ever attended

by K on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Poster of the show does not match the content of the show. This is pure False advertisement from the show promoter which is very upsetting. I want to share this review with others so that they don’t fall into the same trap. I was very disappointed and upset by the magic or illusion performance by the 3 performers. The level of illusion appeared to be cater to children under 6, and the comedy is comparable to sesame streets level. We saw a lot of people leaving after the first period, which convinced us to do the same. I feel that the show promoter should had been more upfront if this show is not intended for older audiences.

    Underwhelming Show

by LG on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The tricks performed were too small scale for a large venue. There were no screens for audiences in the back, except for a small screen that some of the performers used from time to time. The tricks were boring and there were too many card tricks. The performers only acknowledged the audience in the bottom part of the theater and completely forgot about everyone else. The Masters of Illusion poster is misleading. It shows someone seemingly floating mid air, leaving ticket buyers thinking they're going to see something spectacular, David Copperfield style. But most of the tricks felt like something most people have seen before. The show felt boring and long and where we sat, a lot of people started leaving early in the second half of the show. Some people didn't even return for the second half of the show. We expected better from these "world famous" magicians. We've seen better unknown magicians on America's Got Talent. The "Masters of Illusion" even have a misleading name for their act. Don't waste your money on tickets to this show.

Underwhelming, for ages 12 and under

by Ml on 2022-04-16Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Don't be deceived by the title and the poster. Was a sub par magic show that was geared towards children but isn't mentioned anywhere in the description. A few acts were more comedy/music based and not much magic or "illusions". Was only mildly funny and felt like I was watching something on a kids TV channel. Crowd was mostly adults and even saw lots of people leaving mid way through the show. If I had kids under 12 I think it would've been a good experience.

    Disappointing

    by Mike on 2022-04-14

Only few really simple, common and obsolete tricks. Boring and very long in time card illusions. 10 minutes to guess the card. Most of tricks can be performed by junior school students...

    Not as Expected

    by Duce on 2022-04-14

I thought that were to be 6 Illusionists but only 3 turned up and came on again after a brief intermission. To put it bluntly, the 3 just didnt have enough good material to pull that off. Enjoyable, amusing but a bit tedious.

    Not a magic show

    by D.P on 2022-04-14

The true illusionists were the marketing and promotions people that made us believe we were going to see a Vegas-style performance and magically made our money disappear. This show was a joke; and not a good one.

    Boring

    by D.P on 2022-04-14

I had high hopes for this show. They must have spent all their money on marketing and promotions; I’ve seen better magic tricks at kids’ birthday parties. There were no illusions. This is not an auditorium-style show as they are mostly card tricks. Way too much talking and joke telling. Was not at all worth the price of admission. Don’t bring little kids as they will be bored to the point of sleeping.

    Disappointing

    by U. A. on 2022-04-14

The biggest illusion is the event poster… what you see there is not what is in the show. Long unimpressive acts with minimal illusions. More time spent on comedy than actual magic. Show was over hyped and completely opposite of what we expected.

    Masters of Illusion

by Kelly on 2022-04-13Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

My 8 year old daughter and I went to masters of illusion since she loves magic. The show was good clean magic and comedy. It appeared to be more of a comedy act than a magic show. In saying that, the first half of the show was engaging. Some of the magic was well done and exciting. However, the magic tricks for other acts were very simple and very easy to see how they did it. I was a little disappointed and my daughter even caught some of the problems with the magic. For example, the hair was different on the back of a head than the model when spinning a head in circles. In body disappearing acts you could see clearly that the feet were planted further back from where they showed the body to disappear. Lastly, you could see the trap door on a switching person act when they opened the case to reveal the switches person. However, the comedian which was on at the end of the 3 acts was hilarious and engaged the audience. The second half was rushed and much less engaging than the first half.

I was expecting to see illusions, not the comedy show

by Roman on 2022-04-13Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

To be honest, only one of my kids (15 y.o) is happy (probably because she did not pay?). I was expecting to see illusions, magic, something unbelievable, but not the comedy show we have seen for 2.5 hours.

    Mediocre

by Ingi on 2022-04-13Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

I guess I was expecting something more exciting with the title of Master of Illusion. Two of the three entertainers were a bit better. No intermission would have been preferred. Stairs to second balcony are brutal.

    Mislead

by Steener on 2022-04-13Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Was very disappointed. Great show if you were 12 years old. I felt like I was mislead. Expected bigger magic such as a woman floating.
