November 9th, Matthew Good. Incredible show. Good displays an unwavering passion for what he does second best and puts on a show that communicates that passion to his audience with unquestionable clarity. From beginning to end (or from "The Boy Who Could Explode" to "Champions of Nothing"), Matt and his band played with energy and enthusiasm that washed over the crowd, an audible, giddy contagion.
Good's music, however powerful and inspiring, comes as a close second to his humor and political commentary as he took a moment to talk to the audience about a certain ridiculous legislation regarding the 2010 Winter Olympics. Always educational, informative and characteristically nefarious, Good planted a few humorous ideas in the heads of his listeners, which I'm sure more than a few of us will implement in the name of social justice.
All in all, a fantastic show, not at all unlike what I've come to expect, having attended a number of Matthew Good's performances.
