About

Metallica was formed by drummer Lars Ulrich and singer/guitarist James Hetfield in Los Angeles in 1981; since then, their astonishing career milestones include winning eight Grammys and selling over 125 million albums worldwide, including the critically-acclaimed Master of Puppets (1986), often cited as one of the most important metal albums in history. They are also one of the most popular and commercially successful touring acts in history — according to Pollstar, as of 2019 Metallica had sold over 22 million tickets and grossed $1.4 billion in touring since 1982. Metallica’s fifth studio album, Metallica (1991), famously known as The Black Album, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and features some of the band’s biggest hits: “Nothing Else Matters,” “The Unforgiven” and “Enter Sandman.” On six consecutive genre-defining studio albums (from 1991’s Metallica through 2016’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct), Metallica has consistently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In 2023, they released their latest album 72 Seasons. Most recently, Metallica has embarked on the massive M72 World Tour, with dates scheduled through 2025.

Superbe expérience, le son était très bien , l’endroit superbe , l’organisation a été très efficace. Seul point négatif, les bars ferme trop tôt . Sinon un bon 8/10

  • Great show but....

by ArgoDave on 2024-09-15Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I preferred the previous tour since I got more of my fav songs, and the sound was better. Yeah I know I could have bought both days, simply couldn't afford it to buy 4 tix twice. Still, the guys can still rock hard, no doubt! Hope they come by again.

  • Metallica Edmonton

by Adam on 2024-09-14Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was great a venue was excellent. Getting a t-shirt was next to Impossible but they did their best by having an outlet store and 20 on site t-shirt places. My problem with the concert is with Ticketmaster. I like having a paper ticket to keep as a souvenir. As do many many others. The children working in the booth were very unhelpful. As if they had never heard this request before. Because they can't think on the room they needed a supervisor who, of course, was nowhere to be found in this gigantic stadium. This is the very first time this has ever happened to me with Ticketmaster outlet. Usually the staff is quite understanding of this request and can easily accommodate it. They understand it's a personal souvenir. And worst of all this is the first and last time you will probably ever see Pantera or Metallica. Not only did I not want to sacrifice two or three hours in line for a T-shirt and miss the show. But I can't even add the concert stub to framed collection. Ticketmaster needs to make this an option. To be able to get a printed ticket at the venue. It's not rocket science you have done it for years! And because everybody wants to make a dollar ,charge me five bucks. I would gladly pay it to have this tiny piece of a wonderful evening. But now I have nothing thanks to Ticketmaster staff.

Everything went smooth and the performance was incredible. I was very pleased to pick up the best seats in the house as verified resale only a couple weeks before the event. Stoked!!!

  • Lars has lost it.

Openers were great. Cool stage setup. Lars cannot play the drums anymore (if he ever really could)

  • Amazing rock show!

by Dana on 2024-09-05Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Metallica exceeded my expectations! I've never seen them before and it blew my mind. They were so gracious and appreciative of "being allowed to perform for us". I will definitely see them again!

  • Excellent Music, Poor Merch Set Up

by CMPo on 2024-09-04Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

I loved the set up by Edmonton Transit- it was efficient and easy. The email going out a couple days before gave all the information needed. We were prepared with clear bags and had our tickets ready. This venue holds a lot of people. It made sense that there would be line ups for things. What does not make sense is that it took 4 hours in a merch line to get items for the opening bands. I have been to a lot of concerts and NEVER waited this long. I have several suggestions. 1) have merch tables exclusively for the opening bands- this would have helped greatly. 2) Have more staff to set up larger tables for increased capacity. 3) Have staff that know how to run a merch booth-4 or 5 people were taking orders, 2 of them seated the entire time, while a child and one other guy were running around trying to grab t-shirts for the people seated. 2 of the staff were excellent and efficient at taking orders. In terms of sound, the bands sounded great. I would have loved to have caught the full INK set in Calgary on the Friday, but that wasn't possible. Metallica sounded great both nights and the setlist selection was excellent.

  • Dream come true

by Bex on 2024-09-03Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Traveled from mid Sask to Edmonton for my very first Metallica concert. My freshest memory of loving them is at age 5 of course the iconic ONE. Really hope to see them again but floor tickets next time for me.
