Great songs performed by incredible musicians. The band members have a great rapport with each other and the audience. They seem to always play smaller venues, which lets you see them play up close. Michael is super-friendly and meets with fans after the show.
Seven of us went to see Michael and I thought it was the most fun concert I'd ever attended. All three musicians were exceptional and they made the show huge fun. Parts of it were obviously improvised, which made it particularly entertaining to watch. I can't think of any other show that I've enjoyed as much--ever! And I'm 58. The encore consisted of an acoustic set with all three guys jammed (pardon the pun) into one corner of the stage. I think Michael took the sound guy by surprise because it took him a minute or two to shut off all the monitors and sound system. The sound was perfect and the musicanship superb. We all loved it. The only downside was the PA was a bit muddy at times (hard to hear Michael's left hand) but such is life with any live act using a PA. I think Marc Rogers, the bass player, and/or the sound system guy might have been able to help with some EQ adjustments, especially when Marc was playing his electric bass guitar (as compared to his acoustic upright). It's also a pity the NAC doesn't use reserved seating in The Studio; I'm sure it's possible even if the seats aren't permanently anchored. Fortunately, I had a perfect seat.
Incredible entertainer who clearly enjoys and appreciates his audience.
Great atmosphere, they filled up the entire room of great positive energy, you could tell that everyone was enjoying the show as much as the artists. Lots of amazing improvisation, Michael and his band were amazing! I'm glad we went to see him!
From the opening act - to Michael - WOW is all we can say. Even if you are not into jazz, this guy is pure entertainment all the way. When he's back, don't miss him - we won't.

Kaeshammer was a great show! It's awesome when the performers are having as much fun as the audience!
I attended Michael Kaeshammer's performance at the NAC (Ottawa), Fourth Stage. What a truly wonderful show it was, by far the best that I've seen for his genre of music in many, many years. I first heard of and saw him when he performed at Confederation Park (Ottawa) on Canada Day 2009. While he only had Drums and Bass to accompany him for that performance, it was still a breathtaking show and I've been a fan of his ever since. I'm so glad that he finally came back to Ottawa so that I could see him 'live' once again and, as I said earlier, just an amazing show. Plus, this time he also had a Wind section (Trombone, Tenor Sax and Trumpet) in addition to Drums and Bass. I talked my son into coming to see the show with me and I think from what he said afterwards, that Michael K. now has another fan! Everything was wonderful; his skill as a piano player, his singing, the rest of the band members performing with him, everything. But perhaps the thing that once again stood out for me was the joy that he displayed in performing. It didn't seem to be just a 'show' for him but it was fun; he actually looked as though he was enjoying the show just as much as us audience (if not more so!!). And the 'intimate' setting of the NAC Fourth Stage made the show, and his interaction with us, so much more enjoyable. Plus, the same was true for the band members; they had much talent but also had the same fun and love of the music + performance. I only wish that someone had been filming that show so that we could buy a DVD later. I could go on but, suffice it to say ............ thanks so much for the show and, as I'm certain everyone who attended the performance is saying, "Please come back soon!".
this was the second time i saw Michael, and i was thrilled that i could share this evening with my husband and good friends. He is an fantastic pianist and is just wonderful. The musicians were amazing also. It felt like he was playing in his living room for some friends. i believe you should bring him back and give him a larger venue. i would be there in a heartbeat!!!
Wow , what a show!!!!!! I have seen Michael perform 3 times now and every time is almost better than the last ( I have love them all). I didn't know who Jill Barber was but I sure do now!!!!! She was incredible. Her voice was amazing! I bought 2 of her CD's and have been listening to them constantly. I can't say enough about both of them! We brought my boyfriend's sister with us to the show and now she is fan of both of them as well! Well done guys!!!!!
Michael Kaeshammer was excellent, energetic, engaging, and is unbelievably talented. Disapppointed that he pulled Barber on stage for his encore instead of his band. (or himself alone)
First time I've seen Jill, and I'm sold! She's quirky and sweet and sings like an angel. Loved her!! I've been to 5 or 6 Kaeshammer concerts, and will continue to come back for more. This was the best yet! He's such a charming and vibrant guy with skills on the keyboard rivaling none. His energy is infectious, but no one could even keep up the tapping and stamping of feet to what he can do while playing incredibly at the same time! Just an amazing talent. Best concert of the year for me!
When is he coming back???? I could never grow bored watching Michael. He is an amazing musician. He and his drummer have incredible chemistry. Come back to Winnipeg soon, please,please, please!!!

Went to see Jill - as always, lovely, moving music & performance. And what an amazing intro to MK's music! Honestly was not really familiar with his music, until that night - I can say now that I'm a HUGE fan! Put's on a great performance & utterly awesome show!!
