About

"Leave your troubles outside. Here, life is beautiful, everyone is beautiful, the girls are beautiful, the boys are beautiful," a line from 'Cabaret.' It is on such philosophy that MIKA has built an unshakable career and catalogue.

Throughout his career, MIKA has crafted a world of gritty romance amidst the joy and playfulness of technicolored alternative pop. He's a renaissance artist of impeccable intention who's name has rightfully found its way alongside legendary acts such as Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Prince.

MIKA opened his pop career in 2007 with the defining single Grace Kelly, which went on to sell over 3 million copies worldwide and was the second British single ever to top the chart on downloads alone. It was #1 in the UK for 5 weeks and topped the charts in 6 other countries also. His debut album, Life In Cartoon Motion, has over 2.8 billion streams to date, selling over 8.3 million albums and racking up 12.8 million digital track sales. The album went straight to #1 in the UK and 11 other countries.

His second album The Boy Who Knew Too Much released in 2009 continued the trend, making it into the top ten in over 10 countries worldwide and containing the hits We Are Golden, Blame It On The Girls and Rain. In 2011 MIKA released the French language single Elle Me Dit which topped the French charts for 8 weeks in 2011 clocking up over 300,000 sales and becoming the second best selling single of the year in the process. The video featured legendary French actress Fanny Ardant and has over 75.5 million plays.

His third album The Origin of Love, was released to international acclaim in 2012 and includes the huge single Celebrate, featuring Pharrell Williams, and US smash Popular Song, which was later reworked as a duet with pop superstar Ariana Grande. The Popular Song duet video currently has over 205 million views.

MIKA then conquered the hearts of TV audiences across Europe, appearing as a judge on the X Factor Italy, a coach on The Voice France, both of which he is still involved with, and topping the charts in France with the release of "Boum Boum Boum".

2015 saw the release of Mika's 4th studio album, No Place In Heaven, to critical acclaim, created with long-time collaborator and Grammy nominated producer Gregg Wells and featured hit singles "Talk About You" , "Staring at the Sun" and the iconic video for "Last Party" shot by Peter Lindbergh.

His 2019 record, My Name Is Michael Holbrook, was a sort of turning point for MIKA, a healing process. "I had a sense of urgency to transform pain into something beautiful and more hopeful," says MIKA. After writing the album in home studios in Miami and Tuscany over the course of two years, MIKA went to Brussels to record with producers Marc Crew and Dan Priddy. Together they crafted soundscapes spanning different decades of pop tracking the entire album live using vintage synths and enlisting all star players from around the world.

In 2019 and 2020 he took to the road once more, bringing the magic across the UK, US, Europe and beyond. He was part-way through his eastern leg when the pandemic struck and the world changed. But he still managed to keep busy during lockdown. Heartbroken by the devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon in MIKA decided to honour his Lebanese heritage by organising an online charity concert in support of the people of Lebanon and the victims of the blast. But this was no ordinary online concert. 'I Love Beirut' featured guest performances from around the world including Kylie Minogue in London, Rufus Wainwright in LA, Mashrou Leila in NYC, Laura Pausini in Rome and Dana Paola in Mexico City, as well as sending a small crew to Beirut itself to meet people on the ground. The result was a truly breathtaking film with moments of joy and sadness, hope and resilience. Fans tuned in from a record-breaking 106 countries around the globe and the concert raised an impressive total of over €1m for Save The Children Lebanon and The Lebanese Red Cross.

After the strangest 18+ months in living memory, MIKA looks forward to being back on the stage in 2022. Through the attitude, energy and movement of MIKA's studied pop performance he provokes this sense of magic. "It's the sort of dangerous energy where anything is possible," he says.

MIKA has also worked with world renowned composer and conductor Simon Leclerc to perform orchestral versions of his many hits, first with L'Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal in Quebec, followed by a special televised performance at the Teatro Sociale in Como, Italy and most recently with two sold out shows in October 2021 at the Philharmonie de Paris in France.

MIKA has been nominated for and won awards from the Brits, the Grammys, the Ivor Novellos, Capital Radio, Q magazine, The NRJs, The World Music Awards, BT and Vodaphone, Virgin Media and MTV's Europe, Asia, Australia and Japan, amongst others. He is also the recipient of the prestigious French award "Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres". MIKA has now sold over 10 million albums globally and has Gold or Platinum awards in an impressive 32 countries worldwide.

"We don't need perfection. We need character, we need emotion. To feel free to express yourself," says MIKA. "Express yourself, you won't be judged here."

    Mika never disappoints!

by Cheron on 2022-04-16History - Toronto

I've seen Mika 4 times now and each experience has been nothing short of amazing. Mika is a captivating artist that really connects with his songs as well as his fans. You can tell he's having the time of his life, while also being grateful us fans are there in attendance. He sings the popular hits as well as deeper cuts from some of his newer albums. Highly recommend seeing him. When Mika tiurs Xanada again, I'll be there

    MIKA was perfect.

by melaniefaye on 2013-04-17The Venue - Vancouver

Three people on stage. Mika, a guy named Max and a guy named Curtis. Mika on piano and the other two on a range of instruments. Curtis and Max took FOREVER setting up the sound system. It was so long that when asked a stage hand what they were doing he said I think this is a performance! Hahah but honestly, it was SOOOOOO worth it. The sound was the best quality I have ever heard at a concert in my life! Beautifully played and sang. No pitch problems AT all and I could even hear myself so I didnt have to scream/sing along. :P Real quality entertainment. I am lucky to have gotten to hear an artist as talented as Mika in such a perfect setting. If you get the chance, GO. The only one problem I had was with the venue not with Mika. They wrapped him up early and kicked us all to the streets as fast as possible because they had to turn into a night club. Shortest concert i've ever been to. Hopefully Mika comes back to a better venue. :)

    Incredible talent!

by Pinga on 2013-04-07The Opera House - Toronto

Mika was exceptional at the Opera House in Toronto. Hugely inventive, every song was played a bit differently than you know it from CDs. It made for a beautiful show, creative performance, and Mika's lovely personality shone through. Worth every penny!

    Amazing!

by Letigrama on 2013-04-07opera house - toronto

I am in awe. We went with my husband to the Opera concert. We only knew a few songs and we love Mika's voice, so we thought it will be good. Well, we discover not only his live voice is muchh better than the recordings ( something nobody actually believes me) but hes also a wonderful musician full of charisma and humor. The Opera House was an intimate ambient and we were quite close, you could see he was really enjoying himself. He makes audience participate a lot and sing along. He was only with two members of his band, and a lot of times was only him singing at the piano, and this was just sooo enough. Many times I closed my eyes and enjoyed the sound of his voice along with the piano. I have been to many concert with a lot of well known bands, and I am not Mika's #1 fan, yet I tell my friends this is the best concert I have ever been to. We were both in absolute awe of this wonderful performer and we felt blessed we had the opportunity to listed and experience someone so great. I am definitely in for next concert!!!! You will not regret going to see him!

MIKA - An Intimate Evening. MIKA Goes Acoustic

by dadarren on 2013-04-07The Opera House - Toronto

This was an acoustic evening with MIKA, a departure from his regular dance-pop tracks from his albums and recent Europe tour. I had just seen him months before in France and The Opera House venue was a nice change from his usual mega-venues that he plays in Europe, where his celebrity status is much higher than here in North America. The evening in Toronto let his fans appreciate even more what a remarkably talented artist he is: singing live, playing live, chatting with the audience between songs. He played most songs from his new album (Origin of Love) as well as all the big hits from previous albums. And though it was a mainly acoustic show, he didn't slow all the songs down as a lot of artists do. The songs kept their tempo, letting the crowd dance and bop along. And that's the only real criticism I have about this particular show. At times it felt like the show didn't know what it wanted to be. Some of MIKA's songs just ache to be pumped out and danced to like crazy. The audience tried. But the acoustic nature and lack of oomph from The Opera House sound system just didn't give it out. Apart from that, the show was a hit, showcasing MIKA's musicianship and talent at a time when his pop contemporaries are auto-tuning themselves to death performing to pre-recorded tracks in mega-venues where most fans are so far from the artist they paid to see that they might as well buy the DVD and watch it on a big screen at home. MIKA: 2 thumbs up. A+. Whatever you want to call it: his show was fantastic.

    Mika is amazing!

by Samii on 2012-01-21Haven't been to one of his concerts yet but he barely comes to Canada. :/ - He usually performs around the U.K, Spain, Paris, Tokyo, etc. :(

Mika is an amazing artist and performer! His range is amazing and his personality is so sweet! He's very cute and after listening to his music once (if you like pop ofc) you will be hooked and will be listening to his music all the time. He likes to have fun at his concerts and makes the performance as memorable as possible! Different every event!
