I went to see Moulin Rouge - the Ballet on Feb 12th and it was a wonderful evening! The production, the music, the dancing and acting artistry on stage were all top-notch. We really enjoyed our evening!
Vanessa Lawson, in my opinion, was magnificent - graceful, evocative and professional. The presentaiton could have been more intense given the nature of the story and its location . The dancers did a commendable job.

The pre-show talk was very informative - fun to hear the choreographer talk about the creative process and the development of the ballet. The ballet itself was very enjoyable with strong performances from all the leads. The sets and curtains were interesting and added a lot to the overall performance
I did enjoy the ballet but found it to be more like Gilbert & Sullivan in the first act with much of the difficult dancing lost in the choreography and costumes. The second half was much more revealing and showed that the RWB prestigious past has not been forgotten. Very enjoyable.
The costumes were beautiful and the talent was present but the entire production lacked a certain energy and vitality. Moulin Rouge should exude excitement.
