The pianist was amazing - orchestra was very good also - venue was beautiful but hard to get to was on third floor abd bar on first and very small elevator - using stairs when older very tedious
The orchestra and Mr. Ehnes were superb. I have a real complaint against the NAC policy under the current COVID regulations in which it discriminates against single people. I had to keep returning to the website as a single person to find the one seat that came up. I suggest that you back your decision on scientific evidence on people (single, widowed and others) who attend on single tickets in the past. I am wondering where your policy against single people would land if it were the subject of a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission.
It was wonderful finally to be able to go to the NAC and listen to a live concert. The program was well chosen, a mix of standard classical works and newer, lesser known ones. The orchestra played extremely well as did the violinist James Ennis.
I would like to see the centre be able to remind all patrons to wear masks at all times during the performances. Patrons in the upper balconies decided to remove their masks after they entered the hall. Very disappointing. If they want to continue to enjoy these concerts in the hall, they need to keep a mask on during the performances. We all loose out if the music has to stop because some can't follow a rule. If children at school can keep their masks on for a day, I'm sure adults can for 1.5 hours. Thanks.
The Sept. 10th performance by the NACO made us forget Covid for 90 magical minutes. The orchestra played their hearts out in front of their first live audience in two years. What a stunning way to start their season. And how lucky we were to hear them in person. Evelyn Greenberg
GREAT tickets, nice relaxing evening with a good friend. Regrettably,I found the orchestra was "off key" rather often over the course of the evening, but it wasn't enough to break the mood of listening to the divine Mozart. The NAC also thanked me for attending a concert and gave me a promotional gift for my next concert. However, when I went to actually use my gift, the concert I wanted to attend (Beethoven's 5th on March 21st) was not listed so I couldn't use the gift...... rather disconcerting. Here's a carrot but you can't have it I was meeting my friend there in the Elgin Street foyer. She called me on my cell at 7:30 to tell me she was walking around but couldn't find me. I asked if she was in the Elgin foyer and she responded that she didn't know as she had come from the Parking downstairs. It turns out she was in the Canal foyer but didn't know as she wasn't familiar with the surroundings. Maybe some signage might be practical for those who don't go to the NAC often. My humble opinion
Outstanding, world-class performances of symphonic music of the highest order and, particularly for the Elgar, profoundly moving. The rapport and communication in the Elgar between Soloist Bryan Cheng, Conductor Oundjian and the NAC Orchestra was quite exceptional.

I feel very lucky that I was able to attend the performance of the NAC orchestra and Timothy Chooi on October 31. It was a truly glorious performance of Tchaikovsky's Concerto in D Major and Symphony No.6, and a an unforgettable night. The conductor was simply amazing, full of passion. I'd love to attend future events. Thank you for keeping alive the music of the world's greatest composers!
Went to the Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 concert and had a great time. It was my first time hearing all of the pieces performed and they were all very dramatic / engaging. The symphony and soloist sounded great - Southam Hall in the National Arts Centre has great acoustics! I'll definitely be attending another show when I'm in town again.
All three selections on the program were excellent. The soloist performances were exquisite. I appreciated Maestro Shelly's opening remarks and the way he congratulated the individual and sectional performers.
Was nice to be able to relax and enjoy childhood memories of the cartoons and listen to some excellent music. The added bonus was the historical information that was provided gave some real insight into the music and the times.
It was a great show. We have wanted to attend for years and it did not disappoint.
The music and singing was great but opera with no costumes, no curtain and no decor? For these prices? Come on.
This Orchestra has upped its game with conductor, Alexander Shelley. The performance of Beethoven's 9th was nothing short of magnificent! Shelley conducted with aplomb (and without a score!). He seems to bring out the absolute best of each musician. BRAVO!!!
The performance and singing with the whole atmosphere of the theater were truly awesome! My family and I enjoyed every moment of the symphony.
I absolute enjoyed my overall experience during the 10 days of the Beethoven festival. The new NAC is very welcoming, the pre-talks were enlightening and captivating, the acoustics were amazing, but best of all were the orchestra with their conductor. The orchestra and A. Shelley seem to be one entity during the performance, and, best of all, they also connect with the audience. Beethoven has always been my favourite, the seventh is my most favourite of his symphonies, but I can safely say that this was one of my most favourite interpretations. The NAC orchestra did an amazing job!
This was an impressive performance by the NAC Orchestra under the superb leadership of its conductor.
Louis Lortie loved the keyboard and mastered it. And Xian Zhang as conductor was astounding and full of energy. This Mozart is particularly difficult and it was wonderful to see how Lortie brought it to life.
