About

NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

March Madness offers college hoops fans the ultimate in basketball intensity as 68 teams from across the country punch their tickets to the Big Dance and compete for the championship. Basketball devotees wait all season to fill out their brackets, cheer on their hometown heroes, and scope out promising NBA hopefuls as the nation's best college players take the court. March Madness has become one of the most anticipated television events of the year, but the thrills are even bigger inside the arena, where ticket buyers can hear the roar of the crowd feel the rumble of the action in person. The competition gets fiercer each weekend until the Final Four duke it out.

March Madness History

Ever since the first NCAA Division 1 Men's Basketball Championship was held in 1939, March Madness has gripped basketball fans across the country as top-tier amateurs lay it all on the line for a shot at glory. Originally played with a bracket of eight teams, both the tournament's number of competitors and its popularity have expanded exponentially in its 75+ years of existence. Today, 68 teams tango in one of four regional brackets (East, South, Midwest, and West) as the hoops hysteria spreads to arenas across the country. From perennial favorites to bracket-busting Cinderella stories, the tournament has seen it all, and fans won't want to miss a second of the unpredictable action hitting the hardwood this spring.

    Good clean entertainment!

by BuAndDa on 2015-03-22CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Our first time at March Madness. Really fun; we hope to return next year. I really like the absence of corporate media advertising and messages in the arena. It's all about the NCAA, which is a refreshing change. My only complaint is that the officials' time-outs during the game were way too long. They often hurt the momentum of the game. No doubt TV viewers were deluged with ads during these time-outs. Also, I wish I could have bought a beer, but I understand the need to keep beer away from all the under-21s.

    This is nonsense

by fedupliberal on 2015-03-22CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

When CBS broadcast the entire tournament, it necessarily had an overlap of games, but now that it shares the rights with TBS, TNT and Tru, the games are spread out over the entire evening and afternoon. For whatever reason, the games at the easternmost venue start later. Our second game didn't start until 10 PM and like many others, we had an early flight the next morning. I'm aware that the NCAA is seeking to maximize its revenue sources, but if this is how they treat the paying customers, they will be holding games in a TV studio before too much longer.

    Best NCAA value

by expos09 on 2015-03-20University of Dayton Arena - Dayton

This the best value for theNCAA Mens' Basket ball. Tournament. The games are just as important to the teams as any other tournament game. The atmosphere is all college. Not a bad seat in the arena. The only issue is the 18 possible timeouts / game.

    Dunking!

by bayoubunny66 on 2013-04-01HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

The games were excellent! There was one blow-out and one tedious ending but most games could have gone either way and weren't decided until that last-seconds-deliberate-fouling- was over. In one game both teams were deliberately fouling. What un! We don't see that in hockey. The bands, the cheer teams, the dangerous lifting: it all added to the excitement.

    So Much Dunking!

by bayoubunny66 on 2013-04-01STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

Even without Gonzaga it was a great session! There was a circus-like atmosphere and an infectious raucousness suffused the place. Great games, great finishes, yelling fans, hot dogs, balloons, and inside the building it was even better!

    Great Event!!!

by Farisha on 2010-03-29Carrier Dome - Syracuse

We all had a great time!! Except for the BOZOS sitting behind us, who were drunk and argumentative with other people sitting near to them. Never witnessed anything like that at any event in Toronto.

2010 NCAA Div. I Men's Basketball East Regional

by greenfit on 2010-03-28Carrier Dome - Syracuse

Another terrific presentation by the City of Syracuse, The Carrier Dome and the NCAA. Excellent games, all seats are good viewing, in my opinion. Only the lack of an out of town scoreboard made many fans checking their Blackberry’s, miss some of the action. Traffic control and both Syracuse police and University police presence ensured safety and comfort. Well done everyone.

    Seats were not good

We were sitting in the risers at the end and we were unable to watch the game at court level because the seats in front of us were not lowered enough.

The semis were great entertainment back to back. Just the atmosphere of the teams Bands, the cheerleaders, the mascots and just the actual teams playing. The crowds got into a cheering match which was really great.

    NCAA 1st and second round

by calgarybballnut on 2010-03-26HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

First time I have got to the NCAA first and second round games, went to San Jose, excellent bball and venue, buddies and I had a blast. The HP Pavillion has a great HD screen but they don't use it to full benefit. During all those time outs would have liked to see the scores of the other games more often, in fact would really have liked to see some highlights from the other games that were going on during the time outs as well. Can't CBS figure this out? Or at a minimum show some replay highlights from the current game, you could even throw in a commercial or two to cover it. This is the only complaint I have, its a lot of downtime in the time outs, first day we didn't bring anything to read, the next day we brought newspapers was better (especially since they don't sell beer!).

NCAA Round 1 and 2 in Spokane - Unforgettable

by WordBandit on 2010-03-23Spokane Arena - Spokane

Three things stand out that made my experience at the first two rounds of the 2010 NCAA tournament in Spokane amazing. First the city and her people were terrific hosts -- the warm hospitality, welcoming spirit, and great personal interest in those of us from out of town was genuine and appreciated. Second, the eight teams provided an exciting and thrilling six games of March Madness. Although the Friday games were not close at the end (the exception being New Mexico State almost coming all the way back on Michigan State), each game was exciting and fun to watch. The Saturday games however were exactly what the every basketball fan wanted -- two 4 vs 5 games where a team went up early and the other team climbed back in and made it a game to the end. The buzzer beater for MSU was almost topped by the OT thriller in the Purdue game. Finally, Spokane Arena was wonderful. Although they could have done a smoother job of the transition between sessions 1 and 2 on Friday (not enough time, poor communication about which entrances we could re-enter) overall the setting, experience, and value was above average.

    Kentucky was just Fantastic

by UncleBear on 2010-03-23New Orleans Arena - New Orleans

We could just not believe our luck to see the number one seed Wildcats at New Orleans. This was by far the best group of teams that we have seen. All the games were exciting, with the CATS putting on a show. I did feel a little sorry for the Longhorns, but the Deacons deserved the victory.

    NCAA March Madness

by Jackatan on 2010-03-23Spokane Arena - Spokane

Spokane, WA March 19th & 21st. Great site, awesome basketball. Only complaint was that NCAA regulations do not allow spectators to leave the building during the 25 minute break between session games. We were told by Spokane Arena staff that this is NCAA policy as the NCAA is concerned that spectators at the session's first game could leave the building and resell their ticket to someone else outside for the second game. This is an issue which could be easily solved by cordoning off areas similar to professional basketball or hockey events.
