I would have given it 5 stars if it had been a little longer - but otherwise, great show, full of energy, great communication with the audience and performed their hits as though decades had not passed since their release. Would go again!

    Canada rocks!

by AnniefromCalgary on 2014-12-02Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

The Grapes of Wrath and The Northern Pikes gave an AMAZING performance. These guys are all fantastic musicians and awesome showmen. The sound was good, the set lists were great (perfect balance of older classics and more recent material). Both bands stayed afterwards to chat and sign autographs for fans. They have been my favorite canadian bands for decades and my expectations were high, but they sure did not disappoint. I highly recommend!

Sound for Grapes of Wrath was good but the Northern Pikes the sound was off....it appeared they tried to overcompensate by turning up the sound louder than they should have.

by Marge on 2012-03-03McPhillips Station Casino - Winnipeg

Ever since I saw the video for “She Ain’t Pretty” I knew the Pikes were something special but seeing them live was more than I expected. They really are fantastic musicians and they gave us a show that will be remembered for a long time to come.

    Slow start, Great finish

The Pikes are my favourite band; this was likely show number 12 for me. Some of their sound is missing with Merl's absence. They started off slow and rusty, Schmidt, the drummer, was the only one on his game to begin, but once they moved to their acoustical set, things greatly improved. Acoustics at the Casino are great, but having the audience seated at banquet tables with a bar that's only open for 60 minutes sucks some of the life out of a show like this.

Loved the Northern Pikes. Great show! Played all the songs that I wanted them to, but they did not play, "Let's Pretend". I was hoping for that song.

The Northern Pikes still a great gig

by bluntman on 2011-08-22Whistler summer concert series - Whistler B.C.

Always been a big fan, and saw them at their peak in 91 new years eve at Canada place pier. Was disapointed when I heard Merl had left the band and expected that to reflect in their performance, but I was wrong. When Jay sang teenland instead of Merl it sounded every bit as good (not surprising considering he wrote it). This band has always had incredible talent having three singers within it, and having one less now almost seems just like VH without michael anthony. We miss him but don't notice any less talent or quality in the bands sound or performance. In fact I think with Merl not there it brings the best out of Jay and Brian. The show was awsome and the sound especially the acoustics of Jays new guitar were incredible. A very tight set without missing any of the greats, can't wait to see them again and hear the new album. These guys are the most underated Canadian band in history and are truly seasoned professionals.

Good show. Not quite the same without Meryl there.
