I had seen Ben Howard at this venue in the past and the sound quality was so poor at that show, it really made me leery to buy these tickets. However, my kid loves OMAM, and so do I, so I decided to chance it. We got floor tickets, which were general admission. We had a great view of the stage for the opening act but the sound quality of the opening act was terrible! We could not hear or understand a word that the lead singer said - I don't even know who they were. I assumed that this is an issue with the venue, BUT when OMAM came on stage, the sound was amazing! They sound great on tour, and their "sound guy" deserves serious props because it was crystal clear. Now I'm not as terrified to see Hozier here at the end of October. OMAM put on a great show. I'm so happy we went and I wouldn't hesitate to see them again in the future. The only drawback during the OMAM performance was the millennials who decided it was more important for them to be in front of us than to let a little kid see the show. Additionally, we did run out of the venue before the encore finished because the parkade at this venue is a nightmare and it took just as long to get out of it at the end of Ben Howard as it did to get home (I live in Maple Ridge). I'm a little disappointed we didn't stay until the bitter end, but missing a few songs to save our sanity seemed worth it.
So, to sum up: OMAM 5 stars, venue 2.5 stars, other patrons, 1 star. You know who you are. . . .
