I did enjoyed the music. I wish that there was a little more articulation in the chorus. With a singing back ground, I had a tough time understanding what they were singing. The Tenor and the mezzo-surprano soloest were my favorit.

Rosemary Thomson and the OSO are amazing!

by Beaufort on 2011-04-04Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

David Goldberg and Rosemary Thomson were a great team - their love and enthusiasm for the music is infectious and it shone through the entire performance. The smaller string orchestra were fantastic and well received as they performed to a full house. We are going to look for some of Goldberg's recordings on the strength of this performance. And we've been to many wonderful OSO performances and have enjoyed every one immensely. It's expensive for our pockets (especially including babysitting costs) but we still consider it worth it for the value it brings to our lives. If you like music, you won't regret going to an OSO concert. I didn't have space below to add about our seats: My husband is a musician and says the sound is a bit muddy everywhere in the theatre, compared to others he's been in, but I don't notice. I like being to one side bc I see more of Thomson's facial expressions. I love seeing her smiles and how much she is LOVING what she's doing.

great music, well performed - excellent singers - all brilliantly led by Rosemary. the performance left us with a warm glow perhaps at least every other programme should be of "popular" classics judging by the numbers present and the reception the performance elicited

    Getting Dizzy

by Dewman on 2010-11-21Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

This is the first time I have gone to a Symphony and although this was not you tipicial symphony program I was very ompressed with the profromance of the guest and the over all program. The thing that impressed me the most was the quality of proformance of the Symphony itself, which was outstanding for a small city. I'm hooked and will be back.

It was very hot in the theater. The music was great. The four singers didn't do it for me.

    Outstanding Talent

by Hugh931 on 2010-04-12Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

I am not at all that familiar with the music scene in Canada, but I am a fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber, so I was completely surprised by the talent and showmanship displayed by Michael Hope, whom I had never heard of before, but now that I do know about him will be looking for more! Melina Moore also was fabulous, and was the perfect partner for Michael, and I thought she brought an excellent performance ito the duets and her solos.

MUSIC OF ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER WAS FANTASTIC!!!

by SQUIREL on 2010-04-12Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST KCT EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD TO DATE. THE SYMPHONY PLAYED BEAUTIFULLY, AND MICHAEL HOPE HAS A FANTASTIC VOICE AND STAGE PRESENCE. WHERE HAS OUR VERY OWN MS. MOORE BEEN HIDING? SHE IS GREAT. WE WILL DEFINITELY ATTEND MORE OSO EVENTS.

    Great Show

by michahen on 2010-04-12Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

An evening of wonderful entertainment. It truly was an experience of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music. The Okanagan symphony orchestra made us proud and Michael Pope and Melissa Moore were excellent. It was really nice to see a full house.

    OSO 50th Anniversary Performance

by zuzu1944 on 2010-03-27Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Very much enjoyed the performance. It was great to see how many musicians have been with the Orchestra for a long period of time. The conducting by guest conductor and piano performer Rolf Bertsch was beatiful in Rhpsody in Blue by George Gershwin, the audiance was on its feet at the end of the performance.

    The Piping Hot Christmas...terrific!

by Upscale on 2009-12-26Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

A wonderfully festive evening. Rosemary Thompson's dialogue with the audience invited everyone's attention and participation. I felt 'at home' in her living room! It seems all the performers appreciated her invitation as well as they each seemed so at ease with their performance. The pipe band added a lovely Celtic touch! Tracy Fehr was amazing--glowing voice and such a natural performer --and can dance as well!..an exemplary evening!! 10 fingers up!!

    Very Enjoyable Evening

by lovemusic55 on 2009-12-22Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Attended the show with my mother who is 84 with some mobility issues. She thoroughly enjoyed the evening. One suggestion is that during the last song when everyone one is requested to stand - it is difficult for those who can not stand to see and enjoy the last number. Perhaps everyone could stay seated so everyone can feel a part of the ending. The conductor is wonderful and personable which makes the entire evening flow along beautifully. We will be back again next year.

    Piping Hot Christmas was memorable

by cassywassy on 2009-12-21Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

Koodo's to the OK Symphony and Kelowna Pipe Band with their partnership in Kelowna on Dec 19 along with Tracey Fehr from Summerland. It was an event worth braving a storm for although the weather was good. Rosemarie Thompson the musical director was great and a very good M.C. Charming!

    Okanagan Symphony entertaining as always!

by Rambc1 on 2009-12-21Cleland Community Theatre - Penticton

Again this year Rosemary Thomson created a fun and entertaining Xmas evening. The addition of Soprano Tracy Fehr plus the Kelowna Pipe Band, enhanced the evening and created a unique experience. The Xmas concert sells out every year for good reason!

    Piping Hot Christmas

by admiringmom on 2009-12-20Kelowna Community Theatre - Kelowna

The show was terrific again this year, the second year we've attended. The thing I admire and enjoy most is the conductor's easy and friendly way of connecting with the audience, and with the regular orchestra members and guest musicians. She really makes the event fun and relevant for the whole audience, from young to old. And she's a great songstress also!

The overal performance was most entertaining with a high quality of musical talent. The event could have been a little longer with more orchestral pieces. My main dislike was too much of the pipers (I am not a bagpipe fan)
