Ottawa BlackJacks History

The Ottawa BlackJacks are a professional basketball team and the first expansion franchise in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). The BlackJacks have qualified for postseason play every season since their 2020 debut, including three consecutive advancements to the semifinals round. In their relatively short existence, the team has fielded four All-Star or All-CEBL selections, two All-Canadian Team players and individual Canadian Player of the Year and U Sports Developmental Player of the Year winners. The BlackJacks ranked second in the Eastern Conference at the end of the 2023 regular season with a team-best 12–8 record.

Ottawa BlackJacks at TD Place Arena

TD Place Arena is the home arena for the CEBL’s Ottawa BlackJacks. The former Ottawa Civic Centre has been home to Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s since its opening in 1967, and as of 2024, Professional Women's Hockey League’s PWHL Ottawa. Between two configurations, TD Place Arena has a capacity between 5,500 and 8,585. The venue hosted the CEBL Championship game in 2022. During home games, look out for Blackjacks mascot O.G. the Black-tailed Jackrabbit, who cheers along with fellow local Ottawa and Gatineau fans.

    Great event, we did use accessible seating and the view is excellent and we have enough space! Overall an awesome event! Looking forward to next season!

    Great product, great seats

    The open seating sections for CEBL basketball at the TD Place at Lansdowne Park are all excellent - compared to other sports I've seen in person this was the easiest to follow. Where I was sitting (south side) the screens were small enough that they didn't distract from the live action but present enough that you could see replays of key events to clearly make out any calls.

    Would go watch a black jacks game again. Very entertaining - game, live dj, cheerleaders, etc. Affordable too!

    We really enjoyed the game, as we always do when we go to Blackjacks or 67’s. Only complaint was that concession stands were limited. It should be possible to buy a box of popcorn at an afternoon game!

    Ottawa Blackjacks vs Montreal Alliance

    An exciting and close game with overtime ending. The music was too loud and continuous, making announcements hard to hear. We did not like the Ottawa crowd's habit of boo-ing whenever Montreal had free throws.

    Game experience was awesome with a great view of the court. The basketball game itself was entertaining even with it being a loss. Some great talent on both teams. My only negative was related to the parking as it took a very long time to get to an exit. Better organization of the exits for those prepaid to allow a quick exit would improve it substantially!

    Excellent competition

    My son and I attended our first game against the Scarborough Shooting Stars, I was not sure what the level of play would be like as I am an avid basketball fan. The level of play was excellent, the building atmosphere was exciting, the arena staff was helpful and welcoming and big shout out to Josh Figueredo who I have spoke to via phone and email for a few weeks, he visited us personally to make sure we were enjoying ourself. If you enjoy basketball and are looking for a fun family experience I 100% recommend seeing the Blackjacks, and to add we won the game!!! Love it and cannot wait to see our next game!!
