Great artists, awful excuse and spotlights
by Flamencolover on 2011-06-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoPaco de Lucia is great! Too bad there was not a bis. Although the public was clapping for 2 minutes after the end, someone came to the stage and gave a nonsense excuse "Sorry, bis is against the rules, the band is playing for one hour and a half only". Well, I am sorry the producer of the show doesn't know that the bis is included in every show of the world. The band plays for 1:20, gets out of the stage, have a quick drink while listen to the applauses, and comes back for 5 minutes more. That is the rule! Or, at least, a few musicians come back. The venue (Sony Centre for the Performing Arts) allows people to enter and leave the show all the time. So people are constantly getting up, sitting down disturbing your view. The worst part was the flashlights. Employees who didn't have a clue of how to follow someone to their seats with the flashlights spotted the eyes of people already in their seats. Instead of lighting the floor, they lighted the faces of those already seated. That was absolutely annoying. Picture yourself seated in the dark of a theatre, enjoying great music, and suddenly, there is direct flash lights in your eyes!!! And that happened not one, not twice, not three times... it happened during the entire performance!!!! And when some people were trying to make videos and photos of the performance, the guy would throw the flash lights in the face of the photographer, instead of saying something! The most absurd: nobody said anything before the show that photo and video would be forbidden... The venue allows drinks in the seats, so I ended up smelling beer for 2 hours. It was really bad that they made an intermission between the first 20 minutes of the opening performance and the start of Paco's show.
