This was a fabulous show. The dancing was superb...such grace and control combined with passion!Paco himself is a master of flamenco guitar. This show featured traditional, classic pieces with personal arrangements. The troupe also incorporated some new ,rythmic pieces.Aterrific night's entertainment.

    Awsome as always!!!

by Smonty on 2009-10-27Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

Third time I have been to see Paco and his company. Each time has been phenomenal. Angel has become more intense and expressive now that he is a little older, and still has the amazing technique. All the muscians and dancers were fabulous, can't wait til they come back again. The new dancer Ramon has quite a different style than Angel. Very instructive as I was not aware of how individual dancers would have their own style while working within the classic structure of the dance and music. Charo - beautiful! Paco and other musicians - wow!

Paco Pena - joix de vivres

by hooge on 2009-10-27Vogue Theatre - Vancouver

The best accoustic guitarist of all time coupled with flamenco. This is culture/band that would be a waste to loose. Buy their album.

Too much of the same, the dancers were very good, the guitarists were excellent but after the first intermission I felt that it was pretty much the same

Have seen many Flamenco performances in Spain and had no expectations for this one. However I was quickly won over by the performers and their artistry. Go see this show!

    Paco Pena Flamenco was spectacular!

by Frida on 2009-10-21National Arts Centre - Ottawa

This is the second time I've seen Paco Pena's Flamenco troupe and I enjoyed every minute. It was as good as if not better than the first time I saw this amazing group of performers. Flamenco is sensuous and earthy, forceful and graceful all at the same time. I highly recommend seeing this event. You will not be disappointed.

    Paco Pena

by Anonymous on 2009-10-21National Arts Centre - Ottawa

Extremely disappointing and mis- advertised. We were expecting true "Flamenco" dancing with all the energy, flair, colour and sexuality that it entails. Instead we saw two male dancers strutting the stage and one lone female dancer minus castanets, dancing alone most of the time. The male who did the dance just before the intermission seemed to be trying to outdo Michael Flately unsuccessfully. Where was the fire/ energy and passion of the true flamenco??? And where were the programmes that would have helped us know more about the background of the performers and their acts?????

    Exciting and energetic

by Anonymous on 2009-10-20National Arts Centre - Ottawa

We both had smiles on our faces during the whole performance - and we couldn't keep still - we were tapping and clapping to the music - it was very exciting!!! We were so glad we got close enough seats to see the dancer's expressions, let alone their feet. It was a fabulous performance that we would tell our friends about next time Paco Pena is in town!

The Paco Peña Flamenco Dance Company gave an amazing performance at the NAC last night. I hope they come back next year, and I'll be the first one to get the ticket.

Great, but a bit too much dance, not enough guitar

by GuitarGirl on 2009-10-20National Arts Centre - Ottawa

I have seen Paco Peña perform 4 times now, and this was my least favourite concert. He has brought in more dancers (3 now) and he only played a few solos. As much as I love flamenco dancing and realize that it's the total package we're there for (the flamenco experience), I'm a major guitar affocionado and wanted to see more of him. Otherwise, the show was fantastic and the dancers were amazing (though I pity the musicians who had to suffer the constant 'sweat shower' of the shorter male dancer!
