Papa Roach and Nothing More blew the roof off.
by Dismount on 2018-05-02Burton Cummings Theatre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5When Escape the Fate came out and played their music it was hard to tell when a song stopped and another began, but that is just their style. Nothing to do with the sound quality which was superb. Vocals throughout all performances were crisp and not drowned out by any instruments. Bass levels were chest rattling (which I like) and treble was high enough to get good resonance on guitar riffs but good level to not drown out anything else. Then Nothing More came on stage and knowing their music I was excited, but WOW...... If ever I have seen a group of musicians putting their heart and soul into a performance, it was Nothing More with Johnny Hawkins vocals, he has such a range of pitch from hitting high notes to low almost guttural growls. I thought listening to their studio music that it was heavily edited for the effects that are put in, but I was wrong. When Nothing More was performing their song "Don't Stop", Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach was humble enough to come out before his own band's performance and sing his collaborating lyrics from Nothing More's Official Video. When he showed up from off stage....MY MIND WAS BLOWN!!!!! Nothing More is truly one of the few bands left that what you hear on their album is what you get on stage and so much more. Having not really been interested in Papa Roach since Getting Away with Murder, I had listened to their new album Crooked Teeth and was impressed. I proceeded to drag all their old albums out and started to listen to them again and got a renewed interest in their style and the messages they convey in their music. Last I saw them live was back in the 90's when they opened for KoRn at the old barn in Winnipeg. Jacoby Shaddix has definitely learned to give his fans what they want. He came out with high energy and only got crazier along with the crowd. At one point, he jumped off stage and started singing right form the floor seating area. I couldn't have asked for more. Definitely would recommend a Papa Roach concert to anyone who likes to be involved in the performance.
