Great bands, great seats, great sound, great stage show.
We attended the Sunday show with Tuque, 54-40, Trooper, Styx. Party was good. Bands were mostly excellent. Trooper's sound quality wasn't very good. Toque, 54-40 put on very good performances. Loved hearing a lot of classic Canadian tunes from Toque. Neil Osbourne is always a good entertainer. Trooper's show was similar to last time I saw them (Grey Cup 2017 in Ottawa). Somehow that performance was better as this one lacked good sound. One of my faves growing up, so hard to knock them. Styx on the other hand was outstanding! They rocked. Sound quality was excellent (better than others) and their stage show was very polished and professionally executed. I have most of their music including their latest called The Mission. I was thrilled to hear several songs off that album, particularly Radio Silence (why wasn't this a hit?) as well as many old classics that were big hits! Gowan fits so well into this group and he stands out for his energy and enthusiasm to engage the audience and put on the best show he can. Tommy Shaw had an excellent performance as well with many of the classics from his past work with the group. Overall, my girlfriend and I thought it a very entertaining performance. :) :)
Not a bad little venue. The sound was better than we thought it would be for basically a hockey rink. There should be signs out front saying "smoking permitted in the beer gardens" so people would know. The food lines moved quickly but the drink lines did not - could use more staff in the beer gardens. Also, there could be a place in the beer gardens that sold somethings to eat - snacks, pretzels, chips. When you are out in the beer gardens you have no clue when the next band starts - needs a prompt. The onsite parking was good and the guided exiting was slow but organized.
I felt very upset for the line up of awesome bands at this event. The event was really great. A lot of my friends attempted to buy tickets for this event and they were "sold out". They would not buy tickets for hundreds of dollars from third party organizations. I really wish I could attach a photo because I took many over the course of the two days. There were probably no more than 1000 persons in attendance. I have photos when the "headliners" were on also when the "cover" bands were on. This was very disappointing. As an artist I would NEVER play this again. The event was also not very well advertised...not many people watch the news (where I heard of it) and all my facebook friends did not hear of this until I posted the poor attendance photos. I will always support artists and hope that event organizers do a better job of advertising in the future.
My sister and I travelled from the Edmonton area for the 2 day show. All the bands were fantastic, we really enjoyed all the performances, not a bad one in the bunch!! It is a good size venue, we were on the floor so had a great view of all of our favourites and some we had never seen. Very surprised that the attendance on the Saturday was so low. I would for sure attend another event like this one. There is nothing like a live performance, and the interaction with the audience was great from all the groups. Nice to see they all enjoy what they are doing even after all these years especially Lawrence Gowan with Styx and George Thorogood. Also playing with the Northern Pikes is Kevin Kane of the Grapes of Wrath so they did a couple of their songs as well. Great time!!!
Great lineup of bands and easy access to the venue made for a totally enjoyable experience. Styx totally "ROCKED".
This had music for everyone. Venue was large, there was food and drinks. Only downfall was it wasn't promoted enough to fill the seats. Bands played like it was a full house . Price to see that many bands was great.
