Creator, writer and producer of Everybody Loves Raymond, and Netflix food and travel lover Phil Rosenthal is bringing his live tour: An Evening with Phil Rosenthal tour to a city near you soon. He'll be talking about his travels, the food along the way, the new Somebody Feed Phil The Book (available at each venue), with a special guest at each show.

Phil was very funny, it was very enjoyable and his career stories were really interesting. While the Q&A was good, and an integral part of the show, depending on where you're sat the line for the audience members to ask a question blocked the view of the stage, as they were stood in the aisles. I'm not sure they could have done it any other way but our great seat turned into a restricted view seat during that part of the show. You couldn't see Phil answering most of the questions. Great show overall but the Q&A view was the downside.
The Toronto audience loved Phil! He was funny and real, relatable and endearing, and the first hour flew by. He shared (hilarious) snippets of the show and invited us into specific parts of his life, and paid special attention to the children who went up to the mics for the Q&A. People of different cultures and all ages can identify and relate to Phil because he keeps it real, and food is the universal language of love and community. Would love to see him again.
Phil Rosenthal was exactly what you would expect: funny, kind, and personable. If you love his show, you will enjoy him in person.
The gimmick of the show is that it's an interview and Q&A--not stand-up. Phil sits down with a local food critic who asks him pre-prepared questions that prompt Phil to recount his adult life, from being a museum guard in NYC to Everybody Loves Raymond and Somebody Feed Phil. So, most of the show is this sort of autobiographical story-telling. And it's funny and entertaining and very wholesome. Phil has great stories, his comedic timing is excellent, and his punchlines always land. I was really surprised. "Surely that's because it was written and rehearsed in advance,"you may think. "It's not really an interview." That's true. But here's the thing: the "interview"lasted some 50 minutes. For the next 40 minutes, Phil took questions from the audience. Now that's when his sharp wit truly shined. Every answer was entertaining, or endearing, or interesting. His comebacks and crowd work were quick and funny and he was generous and kind to even the most awkward of people. He was particularly tender to the children who participated in the Q&A. Sorry for gushing so much. But I really liked the show.
Phil was simply himself at the Ottawa show. Kind, attentive, funny, and personable. It felt like we were all gathered to hear our favourite Uncle tell us his philosophy of life. Phil displayed his comedic talents flawlessly and made all of us feel connected. My only neutral comment would be that the moderator was inconsequential to the flow and enjoyment of the show.
If you're a fan of Phil Rosenthal, this "performance"was exactly what you would want. Lots of stories, humour and interaction with the audience. If you're not a fan, you would have become one had you been there that evening. It was wonderful.
Phil was amazing the whole night and his stories were enlightening. Such a great night filled with laughs.
Glad to see that the amiable Phil on the show is the real him. Pleasant, funny, good stories, engaging. Great night. I would have liked the screen behind him to have shown live screen, more close-up of Phil. His face is very expressive but we couldn't see that from the balcony.
It was a very funny, comfortable show. Phil seems very down to earth and seems to love speaking to people and sharing his experiences.
