About "Horizons"

World-renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox brings his immersive live experience, "Horizons: A 21st Century Space Odyssey," to North America.

"Horizons" takes us on a dazzling cinematic journey. A story of how we came to be and what we can become.

The deepest of questions will be explored using the latest advances in our understanding of quantum theory, black holes, biology, planetary science, astronomy and cosmology. Using state-of-the-art LED screen technology, venues will be filled with images of far-away galaxies, alien worlds, supermassive black holes and a time before the Big Bang.

"Horizons" is a celebration of our civilization, of our music, art, philosophy and science; an optimistic vision of our future if we continue to explore Nature with humility and to value ourselves and our fellow human beings. Brian will once again be joined by co-host of The Infinite Monkey Cage and award-winning comedian Robin Ince, perhaps the only collection of sentient atoms in the observable Universe capable of overseeing a Q&A with an audience of 10,000 people while wearing an old cardigan.

    Remarkable Show

by Alexis G on 2022-06-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Prof. Cox is amazing. He has an incredible way of explaining the most complex topics to a room of average people while making it entertaining rather than daunting. I have seen him 3 times, and will continue to as long as he tours.

    Inspiring and mind blowing

by Piotr on 2022-06-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Edmonton

Prof. Cox is a very engaging speaker, talking, with a lot of humor, about the things that are at verge of the limits of understanding for most people. I am not quite sure I understood everything he talked about, but even for a moment I didn't have any difficulty paying attention. It was never boring. I wish he expanded the part on the origins of life to share his views on the phenomenon of ... human consciousness. Overall, fascinating, inspiring encounter!

    Nice guy, badly constructed show

    by Edward on 2022-06-05

I really like Brian Cox, he's done a great deal to get people excited and interested in Science in general over the years, so I bought 4 tickets for my family but all of us found it hard to stick around till the end. It just felt like a hastily put together format, with overly complicated concepts so quickly applied that unless your were already quite knowledgeable on the subject you would never grasp in time. It felt like a wasted opportunity (and quite a waste of cash too!)

    Fascinating & Entertaining

    by M. H. on 2022-05-11Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

We were educated and entertained by both Dr. Cox and Robin Ince, a perfect combo! The surprise guest appearance by Col. Chris Hadfield was an amazing bonus.

Amazing, wonderous journey with a brilliant speaker!

by Sandboxtoy98 on 2022-05-10Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

Roy Thompson Hall is a wonderful venue for this type of event. Cozy, intimate, and great acoustics make the "lecture" more personal and engaging. Professor Brian Cox is a brilliant speaker, and his sense of wonder is contagious! Robin Ince brings just the right amount of levity to an otherwise information-heavy event. Amazing!

Perfect for science nerds (tough for kids)

by Stargazer on 2022-05-07Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

A fun (it’s all relative) treatment of relativity and black holes, with a few deep dives into what the mathematics implies. Perfect for science and math nerds. Not for those who only have a basic understanding of space and cosmology. Not suitable for 99.9% of kids

    Brilliant Brian

by Jessa on 2022-05-07Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

Watching someone talk about things that most of the time is over your head, but his passion and how he explains things keeps your interest regardless the difficulty of the topic. I will continue to see him every time he comes to T.O. Overall he is amazing.

    Too many events downtown

by Boddingtons Bob on 2022-05-07Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

I did not attend event as there was a Leafs playoff game and the Jays were playing the Yankees. I also was not feeling too well and would not been able to cope with the crowds on the Gotrain.

    AMAZING lecture…talk…show

by Grey on 2022-05-06Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

Engaging, entertaining, had you thinking, questioning, saying “no way!” or “wait…what?” When a person talks that passionately and with such enthusiasm, it’s hard not to want to learn more. I only wish I was seeing it again, because I have a feeling every time you see those pictures, it tells a different story, paints a different picture and plays a new song. Thank you for an amazing lecture…talk…show!

    Even my wife liked it.

by XtraBigEars on 2022-05-06Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

I dragged my wife (a non-cosmologist) to this guy who she never heard of. She loved it. And is still talking about the cosmos, black holes, time perception and yes, even existentialism. I loved it too. And special cameo by Chris Hatfield was awesome.

great lecture but SLAPS to Roy Thomson Hall

by brant lambermont on 2022-05-06Roy Thomson Hall - Toronto

Overall rating is for the actual "talk" by Prof Cox and Robin. We enjoyed it. However, the Venue staff seating Late arrival folks for nearly a HALF an HOUR was outrageous.

    Worth every cent

    by A. G. on 2022-05-05

If you love science and are curious about the origins of time and space and beyond, I would definitely recommend Professor Brian’s seminar. The visuals along with his thought provoking lecture mixed with concepts of theoretical and philosophical physics were amazing. Cant wait for them to return to Toronto.
