Hoot for hootie, but the headliners came out Flatt
by SBHamilton on 2010-02-01Copps Coliseum - HamiltonRating: 2 out of 5First off, I'm not a big country music fan, but my girlfriend is a huge fan. I bought these tickets for her for Christmas, as Rascal Flatts is one of her favourite country music acts. I had previsouly gone to see both Brad Paisley and Keith Urban with her, and I left both of those shows very impressed. Even though it's not necessarily my cup of tea, both were really entertaining shows. Rascal Flatts, on the other hand, was quite boring. Even my girlfriend, who is a fan of their music, left the show disappointed.
These guys had no stage presence. In between songs (which all sound the same), they just took turns walking around the stage trying to be funny - they were not. In the middle of the set, the lead singer takes off for a good 15 or 20 mins....presumably to catch his breath, as he could barely move to begin with - might want to consider joining Jenny Craig.
The only saving grace for the evening was Darius Rucker (Hootie). He was a fantastic opening act and he actually played some old Hootie tunes. He came out during the encore, which made the end of the show more enjoyable.
Overall, the only reason I'm giving this show 2 stars instead of 1 is because of Darius Rucker.
