About

Red Hot Chilli Peppers on Tour

To many, the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are more than just a Los Angeles rock band from the '80s -- they're musical pioneers who took the world by storm with their eclectic blend of funky, alternative punk rock laced with hip-hop that sounded unlike anything anyone had heard before. The band first formed in Los Angeles in 1983 and quickly gained a following large enough to sell 300,000 copies of their debut self-titled album. Over the next few years, the band experimented with different musical genres and went through lineup changes, proving themselves to be one of the most innovative and resilient rock groups in recent history. In 2022, the Grammy-winning band released Unlimited Love -- their 12th studio album and first one with original guitarist John Frusciante since 2006's Stadium Arcadium. Celebrating the release of the new album, the band hit the road for a global tour featuring all four original members -- vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and Frusciante.  Be sure to see this legendary ensemble back in action performing classic hits and new songs by grabbing tickets to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in a city near you today.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers Live in Concert

In 1987, Red Hot Chili Peppers were named Band of the Year by LA Weekly, but the band really hit their stride with their fourth album, 1989's Mother's Milk, which cracked the Billboard 200 and went gold a year later. The RHCP had earned worldwide recognition by the time they dropped Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991). The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and the album's first single, "Give It Away," took off like wildfire, soaring to the top of the charts and eventually winning the band a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal in 1993. The album also featured the single "Under the Bridge," which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 -- their highest-charting single to date. To promote what some might call the Red Hot Chili Peppers' magnum opus, 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, three of the era's biggest bands -- Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam -- joined the Blood Sugar Sex Magik tour as opening acts. Whenever it was time for the headlining set to come on, seeing the Red Hot Chilli Peppers in concert would always feel like an invigorating burst of energy for all the people packed into sold-out stadiums. Their funk-rap breakdowns, animated stage presence, and minimal clothing attire offered relief from the brooding grunge of the punk-metal status quo. All in all, Blood Sugar Sex Magik was a tremendous commercial success, selling 12 million copies to date, cinching the #186 position on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 500 Albums of All Time, and winning three out of the seven MTV Music Award nominations it received.

The band made the Rolling Stone Top 500 list a second time with Californication (1999), their seventh studio album and most successful yet with 16 million copies sold. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers supported the album on tour for two consecutive years at sold-out venues across the world. The album lit a californi-craze for the RHCP that has burned steady since. The first live album, recorded during a 2004 Red Hot Chilli Pepper concert in Hyde Park, was the No. 1 event of the year on Billboard's Top Concert Boxscores with a record-breaking number of 258,000 fans and a total of over $17 million in tickets sold in the span of three nights.

Since then, they've been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2012), released a handful of more albums: 2006's Stadium Arcadium, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200; 2011's I'm With You, which hit No. 2; and 2016's The Getaway, which also peaked at No. 2.

  • RED HOT

by Chris on 2024-08-20Rating: 5 out of 5

I've seen RHCP live five times and they never disappoint. Last show was at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto and once again, they were outstanding. John Frusciante is the heart and soul of this band! Will definitely be seeing them again when they come back!

  • Incredible

by Logan on 2024-08-19Rating: 5 out of 5

Went both nights and as expensive as it was, I’d only spend it on seeing the peppers act as it’s so rock solid. Will see them play live for as long as they perform

  • Security/Ushers not addressing overcrowding in row ahead

by TM on 2024-07-25Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

At one point in the show a group of people arrived at the row in front of us - it was obvious these were not their seats but they knew the people that were seated there. There were 2 people for every assigned seat in front of us - probably a total of 14 people across 7 seats. It became very difficult for us and the couple beside us to see around them as they were constantly moving around and again there were twice as many people as there should have been in this row. We (as well as the couple beside us) told numerous security personnel to have them check their tickets and get these people to move to their assigned seats. We asked 5 or 6 different staff and not one did anything to resolve the issue. We determined that these people had seats on the lawns so it was clear that we paid more for our seats. The band (Red Hot Chili Peppers) were excellent but this incident was very disappointing.

  • Chili's ROCK!!!

by Amazing show as always!!! on 2024-07-21Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

As always the chili peppers put on an amazing show! Absolutely love their concerts! Only negative is about the venue Budweiser Stage which has moved to cashless and needs to move back to accepting cash.

  • Awesome setlist

    by Morty B on 2024-07-20Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Loved their 2nd night set list in Toronto. They've played most songs that I wanted to hear live. I really enjoyed the concert and RHCP has a special place in my heart. But I still believe Budweiser stage sound quality is not great for this kind of gigs, besides that, the Lawn section had a bad smell of fresh fertilizer.

  • Amazing show

Incredible show with great vibes. Ended the show with under the bridge and give it away

  • RHCP still excellent but Bud Stage venue is so so

by Stef on 2024-07-20Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The RHCP put on a great show, playing their classic songs with full intensity. An exciting act and super intense. Crowd was definitely into it. Budweiser stage is not the best venue though. While the acoustics are good and the screens provide a decent view of the stage, the slope of the seating area makes it hard to see if your are shorter than 5’5 and the posts the support the roof do block the view to a degree. There are also many vendors seeing alcohol but it makes the flow of foot traffic in and out of the stadium really congested and overall the venue feels dated and not well planned. I can’t imagine it being a safe place to be if there was an emergency or reason they needed to clear the area quickly. There should be more exit points or fewer vendors in the way of getting out.

  • Why no Snow Hey Oh?!?

by Nour on 2024-07-20Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great concert with great energy from RHCP as well as the crowd. I just wish they played more of their classics and why didn’t they play Snow (Hey Oh)?? This should be on every setlist…

  • ANOTHER GREAT PERFORMANCE

by Tha Harv aka Mojo on 2024-07-20Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The RHCP 2nd show in TO was nothing short of amazing! The band was excellent & looked like they were still in their 20’s by their stage agility. The graphics on the big screens were mesmerizing & the sound was on point! 4th time I’ve seen them & they never disappoint!
