REUBEN AND THE DARK IN CONCERT:
Reuben and the Dark are spirited folk-rock outfit who recently released a new album, Arms of a Dream, out now on Arts & Crafts. The record finds songwriter/vocalist Reuben Bullock working outside his comfort zone, both musically and lyrically. The result is Bullock's most vivid and transformative music to date: an intimate exploration of the inversion of imagination and reality in dreams.
Stoked I got to catch this pretty intimate show by Reuben & The Dark. The sound was amazing, and the opening act, Faux Prix, was also fantastic. Despite having a sore throat, Reuben gave it his all! They also have some very special guests, the Black Bear Singers, which made for an even more special evening of music. Cheers! Miigwech!
Reuben and the Dark gave a great performance that totally lent itself to the intimate venue of the Arden Theatre. Only criticism was a speaker on the right side (facing stage) that was vibrating. During soft portions of the songs it was distracting.
Reuben and the Dark are amazing performers. We were fortunate to see them in a small venue. The atmosphere was amazing and you could see the bands passion for their music. Best concert experience I’ve had. Very moving. The intimate setting allowed for that connection to their music.
My Family and I loved Reuben and the Dark. He is so captivating and talented. We sang along to every song and my daughters were thrilled to join him on stage for last song. Reuben and the Dark songs have moving lyrics and beautiful rhythms.
reuben is a master songwriter and storyteller, and his voice exudes both power and vulnerability in a single breath. folk music is a powerful genre, and reuben has found a niche here that perfectly showcases compelling lyrics, and imagery that leaves the listener wanting more. what an incredible gift, for anyone fortunate enough to sit in on a concert!
It's the first time I heard the band however I've heard a lot of good things about them.
