Rexx Life Raj on Tour

Prolific Berkeley, California, rapper/producer/vocalist Rexx Life Raj is the stage name of Faraji Wright. A life-long lover of music, Wright decided to pursue a career in music after he graduated from college where he received a full-ride football scholarship to Division 1 football powerhouse, Boise State University.

Following the death of his best friend and the incarceration of another close confidant, Rexx Life Raj was born as a way for Wright to creatively express his thoughts on lifem, death, consciousness, adversity, and activism.

Rexx Life Raj's 2022 album, The Blue Hour, features guest spots from Wale, Russ, Larry June, and Fireboy DML and has been praised by the likes of Complex and Uproxx, which declared it "one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever."

Known for his inspiring and soulful live performances, don't miss Rexx Life Raj when he tours at a town near you.

Rexx Life Raj Live in Concert

Raised in Northern California, Rexx Life Raj came from a musical family -- his mother performed in the gospel group The Marshall Quartet with his aunts, uncle and grandmother. His father, who was a Black Panther, taught him what it meant to be a Black man in America and the value of hard work.

Meanwhile, he began experimenting with music in middle school making beats on a Casio keyboard and singing along with a karaoke machine. While music was his true passion, he had a natural athletic ability and played football, using it as a way to earn a college scholarship. After completing his bachelor's degree in Communications at Boise State University, he decided to focus on pursuing music full-time.

Rexx Life Raj put out his first EP, Dead at 27, in 2014. He went on to release a series of EPs and three full length-albums in the Father Figure series as well as The Blue Hour in 2022.

Channeling his creativity into poignant lyrics that reflect on life as he sees it and offers astute observations, he raps in the tune "Never Change," "If you focused on your path as much as your cell phone you would make a million" about the fast pace of life and battling demons in your head. Poetic and political in equal measures, he's known for a rap and flow so easy it almost sounds like spoken word.
