The performance was excellent. The crowd was appreciative and well behaved.

  • Great Concert

by Beans on 2023-11-06River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was great. All 7 of the musicians were awesome, so talented. Ricky has a great voice. The only issue that I had was he didn't play the song "Honey". People were yelling out for it. I thought he would play it for his encore, but he didn't. That is the song that he is famous for and for those who have never seen him before, it was a bit disappointing.

Not what I was expecting, great music but he didn’t sing any of his platinum songs….

  • Great but sad about not meeting him

by Rebekah on 2023-11-06River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5

We were in the very front row of the stage it was an incredible experience would definitely see him again I was a little disappointed to find out that there was a meet and great because no where on here did it have that option and I found no tickets with meet and greet option

  • Ricky S

    by HE/ME on 2023-11-06River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 3 out of 5

I wish he would have sang more of his signature songs. He talked too much, too many stories and too much tuning of his instruments. This should have been done before the concert, not during it. I will not return for his concerts. The seating was too tight, seating space should be better to see the stage.

  • Loved it everything was great

by Wildrose on 2023-11-06River Cree Resort & Casino - EnochRating: 5 out of 5

Just wonderful the last time I was at that venue it was in a tent to see Randy Travis & that was a few moons ago. I always loved Ricky Skaggs music but never got the chance to see him when he was in Canada. I just wish they would have had some Souvenirs for his fans as I would have loved to get a t-shirt.

  • Excellent entertainment

    by G12h on 2015-08-14Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Ricky Skaggs and his band were incredible. Just too bad about the Chrome Room in the casino where the seating is awful, no air conditioning, extreme flood lights that were heating up Ricky's back and the lack of service by the staff at the casino. I would definitely go to see Ricky Skaggs and his band again, but not the Deerfoot Inn!!!! As well parking at the casino is a zoo and please plan for a long walk! By the way, the fiddle player was awesome!!

  • Ricky & the boys sure know how to pick!

by bigskybilly on 2015-08-11Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Haven't seen Ricky Skaggs and his guys in years! What a fantastic concert. They can still pick a good bluegrass song and the bass player....WOW!!! Glad I didn't miss this concert...it was outstanding!!

What an awesome concert. It was everything I expected and more. So down to earth and Great blue grass music. You don't hear too much of that anymore. It is so refreshing to hear those olds tunes again. I would definitely go again

  • Ricky Scaggs / Kentucky Thunder / Bruce Hornsby

by Rewind on 2013-10-26Royce Hall - UCLA - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Really good show! Musicians so down to earth, to the point of inviting patrons to the stage for some good old fashioned clogging! Long live bluegrass music. Royce Hall is very attractive as is the UCLA campus generally.

  • Ricky and his boys are the best at pickin

by nellieB on 2011-11-15Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

I thought there was too much of the blue grass genre and not enough of the country genre which is kinda what I was looking for.

  • Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Deliver

by Loacl on 2011-11-15Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

At the end of their tour, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder could not have delivered a tighter, more accomplished show on November 12 in Calgary. Right from the kick-off Stanley Brothers tune "How Mountain Girls Can Love," Ricky and the band drove it down bluegrass style, to the audience's delight. Stellar soloing and great harmonies made the old tunes new again, from Mother's Only Sleeping to Ruby. It's a good thing the music was so good - it had to be, to make up for the uncomfortable venue. Wedged in tighter than sardines, seated on tacky chairs and lacking proper aisles for access, it was not possible to move or change position through the 90 minute show. A less than ideal venue, to put it mildly. The other noticeable problem was with the bass amplification. The only band member to plug in, Mark Fain's sound suffered badly from overmodulation at the low end, distorting a normally terrific bass line. Even with those drawbacks, what a great pleasure to see and hear such topnotch players playing bluegrass so faithfully. Let's hope Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder come back soon - but at a better concert venue and with the sound the band deserves.

  • Nostalgic

    by gibber1 on 2011-11-15Deerfoot Inn & Casino - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Truly excellent musicians. Bluegrass at it's best. Venue was crowded. Even Ricky stated 'they got you'all squeezed in here like sardines.. Good value overall.

  • by Weezz on 2011-11-06McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 3 out of 5

He has a great voice and his bluegrass is the best. But I'm not a bluegrass fan. Had the event stated that it was his bluegrass tour, I woud not have attended.

  • Ricky Skaggs didn't disappoint

Ricky and Kentucky Thunder were in exceptional form..As perusual all band members performed fantastic solos..a great nite.

  • Skaggs, A living legend !

by Wesky on 2011-11-06McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

A life long musician, Ricky & his band delivered. Incredible, With 7 players (including Ricky) this show was great from start to finish. The only thing that it could have been is longer, 90 minutes included a 2 song encore. You can pick & grin all the way to the bank with this one!
