    A pleasant experience

by Sab2 on 2012-06-14The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Looking forward to another show soon. Took someone new to the experience and it was a great first timers show. Piqued his interest. Like mamma Mia but for the 80s

    Fun fluff!

by starpop on 2012-06-13The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

If you're wanting to be challenged cerebrally, this is not the musical for you. If you want to laugh, enjoy some bad music that is so bad it's good, and check out some over the top costumes, you're in the right place! The storyline is tenuous at best and is completely cliche. Its sole purpose is to tie the songs together. But who cares! It's fun! The characters are outrageous. You'll be dancing and singing in your seat. And the finale will ROCK YOU. Go and let your (long, 80's, shaggy/feathered) hair down!

Rock of Ages was very entertaining

by Edit on 2012-06-13The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I found Rock of Ages to be very entertaining. I was not expecting it to be raunchy and riddled with foul language but laughed alot. Because of the content I was surprised at the number of children in the audience, I would think this would be like a movie that was R rated and children would not be permitted. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie version coming out this summer. I recomment this show but not for children.

    Campy fun

by risajoy on 2012-06-13The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I was pleasantly surprised by this hilarious campy and well sung profuction. I had know idea what this show was about b4 I got to the theatre but I'm glad we went. It was a super fun night that poked fun of our undying love of the 80's. I would say though that the voices didn't always match in fullness and clarity so at times I was Pulled out of my 'moment'

    Lame story, lame music arrangement

by Jetski on 2012-06-12The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I was skeptical to go see this musical only because I had seen highlights on tv. The story line is weak at best. I couldn't get into the characters at all. And the reason I went - for the 80's music - they never performed a complete song of any of them...just teases. Very disappointing. And if you're wondering, I won't be watching the movie either.

    Rock of Ages Rocked!!

by Katscats1966 on 2012-06-12Centre for Performing Arts - Vancouver

We had such a blast. My hubby and I both graduated in the early 80's so this brought back a ton of memories. We even bought the soundtrack during intermission and love playing it at home. The costumes were so true to the time period. Loved how they fit the songs to the plot. Definitely going to see the movie now that it's coming out. Although can't really imaging Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx. The actors suited the roles perfectly and we laughed so much. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, regardless of being an 80's fan, but it made it all the more enjoyable.

    Rock of Ages was incredibl

by Romanza on 2012-06-12The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Wasn't sure what to expect except a trip down memory lane with the songs of the 80's. I was amazed at the singing, dancing and overall story. The set's were used in a very effective way. By the 2nd half I was out of my seat! The finale was amazing and was sorry it ended so soon!! I would see it again if I could.

    Rock of ages

by Makeitso1 on 2012-06-12The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

I saw Rock of Ages in NYC with a much more talented cast, so it was a rather large disappointment to see this second rate Vancouver version. I know ROAs is one of the more simple (but fun) musicals, you know the kind, no original music but rather an opportunistic cash grab at the baby boomer's love of their music and times. Although this musical is not quite as clever as Mama Mia, and certainly nothing like Wicked or Lion King , it is still fun if in a nostalgic mood for the big hair days. The Vancouver ROAs did get what appears to be a standing O from some patrons but perhaps they just wanted to be on their feet so as to be out of the theatre as fast as we were.

appeals to a limited age group/not for a family

by smab on 2012-06-12The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

the songs and singers were excellent. The story line was good. Just found it a little distasteful in its presentation -- definitely not my vintage, even though I knew the songs. Even though there was a warning I didn't expect the explicitness.

Rock of ages was a visit back in time

by Bonbar on 2012-06-11The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

If you loved the 80s, then you'll love rock of ages! It was 3rd rate acting and singing but captured the time and is worth it if you wish to go back there.

    I Love 80's Rock!

by Verndula on 2012-06-11The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

If you love 80's Rock, then this is the show for you! Great music all the way, there were funny parts and goofy parts, but all in all a great show. The ending wasn't great, but at least the music made up for it. I recommend it overall!!
