Good-day from beautiful NS;
I consider myself a Proud NS Boy who has lived here all my life.
I was elated with Sunday's performance (and yet) also a bit disappointed, after not being there for 6 years. (before that I went about every 2-3 years). I along with others have been going to the Tattoo for over 40 years of and on.
I will start with the disappointed...Where are the arial acts (especially since this was about the air), the popping off of guns/canons (I know "gun run"was cancelled few years back), the military demonstrations, recreations and circus/military type acts? (the bikes, glad they came from Germany, but the kids at the local park do better acrobatics.)
There were those from Ontario, US & somewhere in Europe around us, and I could hear their voices and chatter about it was just a musical act and they wish they had of known.......Not a proud NS moment to hear this.
I think the organizers got to step up their act, maybe even bring back the entertainment part too, such as the NS Circus group in from Dartmouth (somewhere) to entertain, or maybe bring in someone to show how a musket is loaded and fired (we want the Noice), it was about airmen, bring in a real bi-plane and show it off with some veterans just sitting in cockpit!!!! The military rope team, the fence wall show offs (lol), demonstration of a war siege with guns popping, or anything (we, the audience would even wait a few extra minutes while it is being set up).
I would have been mortified after all the praizing I & others have been doing for years, if we had brought my wifes' family in from the USA (which I've been hoping to do), for this event. The organizers missed the boat (airplane)!
NOW the AWESOMENESS of the Tattoo. I want to end off on a POSITIVE note.
Marvelous show otherwise. I can't be prouder of the cast, the wonderful costumes, the entertaining bands/pipes/dancers, the military precision, and the conductors and singers. Bravo goes out to them. Compliments out to the Bango Brothers, the fantastic Jeep demo race, piano singer, and the kids from Britain who made me and my wife cry with their singing and enthusiasm.
The announcing from Peter form Move100 was great, clear and understandable.
Very excited to see the large Choir and youth choir too. Not sure why, but the guys on the sides with the NS vest/costumes and the long bugles always a pride thing - so Riggle.
Loved the history stuff and the videos on the floor/screen!
DON'T ever change any of this type of stuff, but bring back what WE expect.
I am thankful of the Tattoo for putting us on the Map, just some little things to bring it back to the standard we all expect and enjoyed in the past. I want my boosting to be worth it for the newbies, the older, the youth, and the visitors.
