    Rugby at Coomnwealth

by Coen on 2018-06-12Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

This was great! The stadium created a total different athmosphere than the smaller venuesof the past. It really felt like a TEST match. 12000 plus crowd will grow if this is continued

    Canada Rugby Organization needs improvement

by DisappointedRugbyFan on 2018-06-12Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

There was no parking at the venue and street parking was only allowed to resident permit holders. LRT was packed solid and, due to a disruption on an earlier train, the trains were all delayed. Many people were filing in well after kickoff. Not Can. Rugby's fault but maybe better arrangements should have been made with the city for more transit and parking. Lost interest in the game as it was very one-sided and the Can. players looked like they were out of their league. We bought tickets early for assigned seating, but the seats were given up to others and volunteers had to find similar seating elsewhere. The lady selling beer in the stands was so out-to-lunch that she would stand in the middle of the aisle (blocking the view to the field) talking to everyone (loudly). Not very well organized.

There was no announcing when play stopped.

by Oyoueightonetwo on 2018-06-12Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

There was nobody letting you know what was going on when the play stopped. The whole field looked at jumbo tron and we had no idea why. Would be better if they talked on the PA system to inform us a little.

by RussellSeaborne on 2018-06-12Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Great to see some rugby being played. There was a good atmosphere (even though there was rain on the way). Good place to be with friends - easy access and ticketing process.

Rugby is going to grow in Canada

by Lloydminsterfan on 2018-06-12Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Not the result we wanted to see, but, Canada v Scotland in a the test friendly was an amazing event. Commonwealth Stadium is a great venue for field sports. I've been to events in Europe and to watch Six Nations rugby, and this stadium is as good if not better than anywhere I have visited there from a viewing of this incredible sport. Listening to the crowd and their comments during the game, I can see this as a sport that Canada will embrace. Keep coming to Alberta Rigby Canada and the promoter of the event. I for one will be at your next event.

    Great family outing

by ColdAlberta on 2018-06-12Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

We have never attended a rugby match before. Having travelled to Europe and not having time to attend a match there, this was the next best thing. Excellent family outing for Father’s Day. When I saw the advertisement that Scotland was coming to compete against Canada I had to get tickets. My only disappointment was the lack of Scotland merchandise. Canada was well represented in merchandise. Overall we had an awesome experience and my 15 year old son wants to play. We will be contacting Rugby Alberta.

As huge rugby fans, we weren’t disappointed. Three generations (my mom, son and I) cheering. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Closed off too much of the stadium.

    by 12367 on 2018-02-03BC Place - Vancouver

Rugby game was awesome and tickets were dirt cheap but just under half the stadium was completely cut off, empty seats. would be fine but we were forced to sit in the ends zones where its harder to see. Why not close off the worst seats in the house first instead of one entire long side of the stadium?

Great game, BC Place needs to be better

by Mussel on 2018-01-30BC Place - Vancouver

The Canada vs Uruguay 2019 Rugby World Cup Qualifier was an entertaining, albeit disappointing, match in that Canada did not win. Hopefully we can turn it around in Montevideo and earn the RWC spot. I was really disappointed by the long lines at the entrance gates upon entry. I tried at Gate A, B, D and finally E (because i had no other place to go) and the lines were ridiculous. I arrived at BC Place at 4:25 and was in line at Gate E by 4:45 (after passing on the long lines at A, B and D) and worried that I'd make it in for 5 pm kickoff. I was not happy, and by the sounds of others in the line with me, neither were they.

    Canada Disappoints .... Again!!

by Bluto on 2018-01-30BC Place - Vancouver

While looking forward to this game with eager anticipation, expecting Canada to come out intense with their back to the wall to qualify for the World Cup they came out flat. Uruguay scores with in the first minute after running through the Canadian side like a hot knife through butter. Tackling a forgotten skill! At least they fought back to take a 10 point lead only to squander it as the half expired to be down going into the second. It appeared as though Canada wasn't ready for the start and then they let down their guard awaiting for the half time whistle to blow. Uruguay were more intense throughout the game. Offensively they ran through Canada, hitting the Canadians at speed at all times and scoring three easy tries on the wing where Canada failed to defend. Canada lacked intensity, they didn't hit the loose at speed, they weren't aggressive on the counter rucks, they took too many needless penalties, their ball handling was less than suspect as they turned the ball over numerous times in good scoring position due to carelessness. Even at the end with time running down they showed no sense of urgency, walking to lineouts as time ticked away. Uruguay deserved the win and Canada needs to watch some old film ('87, '91, '95) to understand what intensity means and is needed to be successful on the world stage. I find it hard to believe that our selection committee isn't finding the right mix of players. Rugby Canada is still way too political in the selection process and it appears it's more of who you know vs. ability. We need some journeymen, character and leadership. No one is stepping up!

    Good match, shame about Security

by ShayneO on 2018-01-30BC Place - Vancouver

Enjoyed the match & the facilities. The set-up of the stadium was a little bizarre - only seats on one side and the ends of the field. Presumably this was done to create 'atmosphere' but it just meant all the there were limited entry points, facilities were overcrowded and everyone crammed-in. Felt like they should have just used both sides and not the ends of the field. Worst part of all was the overzealous security approach - everyone was frisked as they entered the stadium. For goodness sake - it was a rugby match at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. It meant long lines formed, and was just an unpleasant way to enter a stadium. Well done to Rugby Canada for selling teams shirts at a discounted price, but maybe next time allocate more space & more than one checkout - I ended-up spending 30 minutes just to buy one team shirt! Oh, and please let your fans know it's not cool to boo the opposition kicker when they're kicking for goal... that's just lame.

Great to see a higher attendance

by HannahSquamish on 2018-01-30BC Place - Vancouver

I love going to rugby games and this one was much better than the previous I had seen at BC Place (Canada vs Japan a couple of years back) primarily because the attendance was higher which added to the atmosphere. It was still a shame to see half the lower bowl empty, I hope that improves with advertising and word-of-mouth. My one pet peeve from the event was constantly being reminded that one of the sponsors was Guinness (which I LOVE), but could you buy a Guinness at the event? NO.
