This was the first time I had seen an opera presented by the UBC Opera and I was very impressed with the entire production. The orchestra plays beautifully, all the soloists were good and the simple but effective stage settings were good.I have heard singers from the UBC Opera program many times but never in a full production Opera. I was especially impressed by the singer who played Russalka's father. I look forward to attending my next UBC Opera soon and the price was very affordable also!

Intriguing staging, great orchestra, chorus, dancers, and soloists.-- especially a university production like most opera orchestras, this one could play a bit softer during some of the soprano's solos

  • Beautiful opera, OK delivery

Rusalka is a beautiful opera, but this performance didn't give me goose bumps. I particularly liked the voice of the lady playing the Foreign Princess. As I said, it didn't give me goose bumps as opera normally does, but I can't complain about these performers. I guess they are semi-amateurs and I am not really a connoisseur. Good work, Congratulations. My sole complain: the subtitle screen does not need to be so high. I ended up in pain trying to switch my focus between the scene and the incredibly high screen.

I found the third act the most compelling. While the first act lacks strength. Overall, with the help of a magnificent orchestra and a beautiful rich choreography, the show leaves us with material for our dreams. I particularly loved the witch for her presence, voice and costume.

Beautiful costumes and venue with good performances. The opera itself doesn't have any recognizable melodies, and it is long: three acts with two intermissions runs over three hours.

Always enjoy the operas put on by the University. Have never been disappointed yet. So much variety, and good quality singers, costumes, set! Thank you, again, for quality entertainment and music!

The UBC Opera was fantastic! The whole show was very professional and the voices of these students were just unbelievable. The costumes, set and orchestra were fabulous. This was my first opera and I would love to go again.

The quality of music, and performance was fantastic. The set was beautifully simple and yet mysterious. These kids did a wonderful job; very entertaining.
