  • STW NEVER DISAPPOINTS!!!

by Denly on 2025-03-13Hollywood Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Love how the band members were their own “opening act” with Jaycelyn, Ben, and Tyler doing individual sets. It was cool to experience them showcasing their unique voices and it made for a more intimate opening before the energy of the main show. As always, they played their damn hearts out and I love that they nixed the encore in favour of playing a solid show without the audience groveling for more at the end. An exceptional evening and I’ll definitely be back for more!

Loved the solo performances and the band's energy too. The audience was really into it, which was extra fun.

  • STW rocked my world

by Sophia on 2025-03-11Hollywood Theatre - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This is probably... the 10th or 11th time I have seen Said the Whale perform and each time is a unique, intimate, and celebratory experience. Their lyrics pay loving homage to the Pacific Northwest, community, learning lessons from love, and how to be a better person. There is so much poetry about the human condition in their songs, paired with some of the best indie rock instrumentals you can get your ears on. As a feminist, I also really adore their songs on parenting and masculinity, I think this is a much-missed point in music today and harkens the political messaging of punk. As a longtime fan I can confidently say they have stayed true to their roots since day one, while somehow managing to transform their sound, messaging, and focal points as they've all grown as people. Most bands just don't manage to balance this quite right. The venue is always a treat, great vibes all around. Love you Said the Whale! Can't wait to catch the next show!

  • An Unforgettable Night

by Miyukes on 2019-09-10Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was everything I wished for and more. The band, was fantastic and their energy was such a pleasure to experience live again!! Their music is amazing. I had met up with a friend I haven’t seen in months at the concert, and just being able to sit on the hill, with a clear view of the concert, with the stars overhead and the dark silhouette of trees surrounding us, it was a truly magical night🌙✨🌲 Thank you to Said The Whale, the opening acts (who were also so ever fantastic, I’m in love), the young artists giving out cd’s, the staff at the merch and the concession stand, and all the concert goers who were so respectful, kind and made this night unforgettable.

  • Excellent show- Again!

by Coladash on 2019-09-09Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

This is the third time I've seen Said the Whale and every time gets better and better. The first time they were an opening act, but being the headliner this time, they really know how to put on a show and engage the audience. Malkin Bowl was a perfect venue to see them this time.

  • Incredible Show!

by Schikk on 2019-09-09Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the performance from STW! Awesome. There was a local high school choir which sang along with the band for a couple songs. Very nice. Jaycelyn rocked out! The Beaches were a great opener! Really impressive. Amazing venue.

Awesome performance. Great turnout. Happy to see they are involving others in their performance and giving them a chance. Like what they are doing for the community, as always they do a great performance. Would have like to see them finish to the end and not stopped because of time over.

  • Beaches rock!!

by LayLay on 2019-09-09Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The Beaches put on one hell of a show and Said the Whale was another level of musical experience all together! Such an amazing show at such an amazing venue. 10/10 will see The Beaches next chance I get. 7/10 for Said the Whale. All around amazing experience!

  • Magical evening at Malkin

by Dan on 2019-09-09Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

If Malkin Bowl was any indication, the band appears to be pulling out all the stops for this tour. There are few matches ever more fitting than STW at Malkin and the show did not disappoint. Beaches were fantastic and did a killer job amping up the crowd. STW followed with a set spanning everything from Taking Abalonia to Cascadia. It included some fantastic cameos from Camilo the literal musician in addition to CBC STW superfan, Grant Lawrence.
