SATTAR IN CONCERT:

For the past four decades, Iranian tenor Hassan Sattar has been a Persian cultural ambassador beloved around the world for both his pop and classical music. Since making a name for himself in the '70s with several popular TV theme songs, Sattar has racked up a whopping 70 hits, and his career-spanning shows feature a veritable smorgasbord of contemporary Iranian music. In concert Sattar is a consummate showman, delivering his passionate vocals with a twinkle in his eye while a backing band provides tasteful accompaniment on drums, keys, and traditional Iranian folk instruments. Whether he's crooning on the romantic ballad "Hamsafar" or getting ticket buyers dancing to the disco beat of  "Akharin Talash", Sattar always sweeps fans of world music and beyond off their feet with a first-rate concert experience.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Tehran-born Hassan Sattar rose to fame at age 22 when his recording of the theme song "Khaneh Bedush" for the popular Iranian TV show Morad Barghi became a massive hit. He made his album debut the following year with 1972's Hamsafar, and the title track became one of his most enduring songs. He became a huge musical icon in Iran in the mid-'70s with a string of popular albums, even earning a position as court singer for the Pahlavi Royal Family, which he enjoyed until political upheaval forced him to relocate to Los Angeles in 1978. The move only served to propel his international fame, and he continued to release successful albums throughout the '80s and '90s. In 2013 Sattar released the retrospective album 40 Years of Memories, a stunning compilation of his triumph-filled career that has fans eager to catch him on tour.
