This was the first time I attended the Nutcracker performance by Shumka. It was very pleasant, enjoyable, and well put-together. It was a delight to see after a two year hiatus!
All I can say is, WOW what a performance and the production, the costumes and the shumka dancers where amazing. The seats, I’ll be definitely getting those seats again and you can see everything.
Took two granddaughters who loved the show. Lots of energy and a great story!
We really enjoyed the show! We were first row on the first balcony, so we had a great view. The talent and stamina of the dancers is absolutely amazing! The costumes were beautiful. I liked how they incorporated traditional dances from different nations into the story as well. I would go again.
An excellent concert to put you in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy by us, our children and grandchildren.
The performance was magnificent! Wonderful variety, fantastic costumes & the Carolers sang so beautifully even though I don't understand Ukrainian (they even sang in the lobby during the intermission). I sat in Row F & I expected the seat to be reasonably good as it was in a higher bracket but much to my surprise the seats aren't staggered very well! If you're short in the torso like I am this isn't the best place to sit!
Spectacular!! I plan to make this an annual event!
I enjoyed the performance very much. The caliber of the performers exceeded my expectations! I most definitely will attend any future Shumka events! Impressive!

This was my first time at a Shumka event and how I wish I was Ukrainian! The score was beautiful and I greatly enjoyed the variant (or perhaps it’s the original) on “Carol of the Bells”. Then the dancing! Yes, to the “athleticism, beauty, colour and incredible mastery of movement”. The Ukrainian style movements were my favourite parts, but then the balletic sections with movements more familiar to me, were amazing. We immediately made plans to return as long as we are able!
This was the best performance I have ever seen. From the costumes, to the back drops, so amazing. The singing and dancing was phenomenal. I was in awe the entire performance. Well done!
Excellent show, with beautiful and colourful costumes, professional ballet dancers. Highly recomended to anyone who have not been to Shumka Nucracker.
Beauty, dance and athleticism all combined. Costuming was stunningly beautiful. They take Ukrainian dance to new heights.
The Shunka dancers and the Irish dancers were very skilled and entertaining
Shumka’s Nutcracker is high energy levels from beginning to end. The fun and playful act 1 mimics Nutcracker’s story perfectly while combining the Ukrainian flare that we all love! After thinking it couldn’t get any better, it did. Act 2 took me by storm with all of the unique aspects it had to offer including: ballet, Ukrainian, and Irish dancing. I was blown away by the talents this show had to offer. This was my first time having the pleasure to watch the show and certainly will not be my last! It’s a must see!
Great performance Amazing energy Shumka’s Nutcracker is the most entertaining ever!
This concert took my breath away! I counted almost 80 in the ensemble. Where does one go to see such a concert? Five ballet dancers from Kiev, Ukraine, the amazing Shumka dancers, Irish dancers, a choir and many in the supporting cast. It was everything. The set was amazing. The costumes were amazing. The entire ensemble was amazing. Concert extraordinaire!
It was an enjoyable afternoon. I gave a 4 star only because I would have liked to have seen more of the Ukrainian Shumka dances rather that so much of the ballet.
