Since landing on XXL's coveted Freshman Class list in 2015, Glizzy has made good on the buzz with swag-heavy performances that showcase his easy, confident flow and commanding showmanship. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

D.C. isn't known for its rap scene, but Marquis Amonte King, aka Shy Glizzy, is out to change that. Glizzy started self-releasing music in 2011, and by 2012 he had D.C. on the rap radar thanks to popular mixtapes like Law and Fxck Rap. His profile got a boost when Complex named him one of "10 New DMV Rappers to Watch Out For", and in 2013 he followed up on the success of his Law mixtape with Law 2. His big breakthrough, however, came in 2014 with the mixtape Young Jefe, which spawned his biggest hit to date "Awwsome". The track cracked the Top 40 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and rap heavyweights A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz hopped on the remix. With new material slated for 2016 and rumors of a forthcoming full-length debut, Shy Glizzy has all eyes on him—and D.C.
