About

Now on Broadway through January 1 only! SOMETHING ROTTEN! is the hilarious Broadway smash from the director of ALADDIN and the co-director of THE BOOK OF MORMON!

This mash-up of 16th Century Shakespeare and 21st Century Broadway tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two playwrights stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar Will Shakespeare. When a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theatre, the Bottom Brothers set out to write the world's very first MUSICAL! With the most singing, the most dancing, and the most gut-busting laughs on Broadway, it's something wonderful... something for everyone... It's SOMETHING ROTTEN!, "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years" (Time Out New York)!

One of the best musicals we have ever seen! Clever, witty, and an amazing cast.

Hilarious especially if you are into musicals

by KOD2016 on 2016-01-27St. James Theatre - New York

The first act is really quite fantastic, the second act gets a little (OK A LOT) silly but this is still a very funny, high energy, well produced show to see on Broadway (especially for the musical 'in jokes').

Irreverent, fun, sometimes silly but always entertaining. Highly recommended. Good acting, singing, dancing, and laughs... everything you want from a Broadway show.

    Nothing Rotten about Something Rotten

by Theaterguy on 2015-11-27St. James Theatre - New York

This play kept us in stitches through the entire performance. It is a clever play. If you attend theater on a regular basis, you would pick up on most of the jokes and 1 liners. If you are new to theater, I would not recommend this play as many jokes and 1 liners relate to well known plays.
