Steve Earle and the Dukes were great! Loved singing along to all our favourite. Hung around in the casino after the show and got to shake Steve’s hand on his way to run onto the tour bus! *starstruck*
Great to see Steve Earle and The Dukes up here in Canada - please keep coming back!! We love you
Saw Steve Earle and the Dukes at Casino Rama. He and his band always do a great show with a generous set list of up to two hours. Rama's a bit out of the way from Toronto (especially on a summer Friday night the traffic is bad) but lots to do when you get up there
I love Steve Earle compositions and have followed him since the early 80's. However this is the first chance I had to see he and the Dukes in concert. All the players were great in my opinion and Steve is of course accomplished and great to see live as well. His catalogue is so deep though that I would have loved to hear more of his original works than the many covers he started with from Jerry Jeff Walker (I love his original work as well) and the closing encore with tunes from the Grateful Dead and the Band! Would have loved to hear Justice In Ontario, The Other Kind, The Rain Came Down, Fearless Heart and Nothing But a Child to name just a few!!! However I enjoyed the show and will attend another in the future! Great Value to see a real music Stalwart!
Great show, but i wish he would have done a meet and greet, and there was no merchandise for sale at all. That kind of sucked.
It was great to see Steve and his band again. I've always enjoyed his banter between songs-- you always come away from his show feeling that you know him a little better. Highlights included a rather wistful rendition of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles" and the moving "Its About Blood" where at the end he amazingly recited the names of the 29 victims of a mining disaster. Great night.
The last 4-5 songs the volume seemed to increase and the mix got sloppy so that vocals were lost. Before that sound was fine. Sadly this took away from what had been a great show. Loved the choice to do songs by The Dead and The Band in the encore. Thanks for coming to Canada Steve ---- we miss ya!!!
I had to drag my wife out who is also a big Steve Earle fan but she got lazy over covid about going out. She turned out to be the loudest person there. Steve and the Dukes were in very fine form. Our seats were half way back on the floors and it was perfect. I’m also a sound tech and I thought the front of house tech did a nice job. I was hoping to hear “I feel alright “ but the songs Steve picked were awesome .
Steve and The Dukes did not disappoint. A true American Legend
