    Still Super(tramp)!

by Totofan on 2011-06-05Prospera Place - Kelowna

While Roger Hodgson no longer has anything to do with the band, this still IS Supertramp and the vocals (on his songs) are covered quite well by the other musicians. Of course it would be great if all the original members could perform together, but this late in the game it's a treat that the band is still touring in any capacity. It was a mostly soldout show and Supertramp performed for around 2 hours. Song selection was good and the band seemed to enjoy themselves. Despite their touring schedule being screwed up (due to the Stanley Cup finals in Vancouver), there was plenty of energy on stage and the band seemed no worse for wear. The sound was the only real flaw to an otherwise great evening. When I think Supertramp, a great horn section and of course that saxophone spring to mind. Unfortunately, they were mixed improperly and were not nearly as prominent as on their albums. The crowd could have been a little more animated as well, but this IS Canada and given the demographic (50+ would be pretty representative), it's understandable. The songs were true to their studio versions and for that I was very pleased considering how polished most of their albums were, especially in their heyday. A great show for even the casual fan so of course I recommend seeing them!

Pure talent up on stage. Good lighting set up. Especially considering the turn-around from the playoff game the night before. Good job to the band and crew

    SUPERTRAMP was SUPREME !!!!

by mybabyface on 2011-06-05Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

LOVED EVERY MOMENT ! Plus, there were no 'QUIETEST MOMENTS' ! I was front row and was so delighted when John Helliwell came on stage with a Canuck jersey! There was no back-up band ... just SUPERTRAMP !! I finally have my voice back after singing to all the songs l've always loved! It was sad that Roger Hodgson wasn't there to make the band complete. But, they played just like he was actually there. Yes, l'm the daughter of a hippie and proud of it! This means l got to love SUPERTRAMP when l was a teenager and still LOVE them today! It was fun to sing and (slightly) dance to all of the songs. I hope that l'll be able to do it again and thet SUPERTRAMP will come back, sooner! (big smile!)

The night started off slow, but ended well. Heard the classics, they put of good energy and looked like they were enjoying themselves.

This band misses Roger Hodgson. Although they have a couple of young men in the band that attempt to cover off his half of the lyrics, it seems like a band-aid solution. Rick Davies is still brilliant and is the only reason this band is still touring. It would be amazing to see Richard and Roger back together.

Bloody Well Right On!!! Supertramp Was Spectacular

by Python46 on 2011-06-04Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

The stage was set. What a stage. They are an orchestra, a Rock band, a blast from my past. As most teenagers growing up in the 70's I was wearing out my Crime of The Century Album. Even in the Quietest Moments was a close second. Rick Davies With fellow veteran bandmates Bob Seibenberg and John Helliwell. Additions to vocals and the symphony were Jesse Siebenberg and Gabe Dixon. With one of the sexiest back-up singers I have seen in a long time Cassie Miller, played percussion also. Jesse, played guitar, lead vocals percussion, and Gabe Dixon stood in for the absent Roger Hodgson who left in 1983. They sang an almost flawless recreation for a Roger Hodgson as well as back-up on many other hits. Bob Siebenberg on the drums, looked great and played awsome. Cliff Hugo on Bass, Carl Verheyen on guitars and Lee Thornburg on horns .Rick Davies was phenomenal. His voice was perfect. All the way to Crime of the Century sung just after School and Dreamer in the encore. He commanded the piano and Wurlitzer. John Helliwells Sax playing and woodwind playing was my favorite. He also was the Band's comedian with his huge blowhorns on Bloody Well Right. Right! Ha. I was blown away. Come back soon, Don't make it another 8 years, how's about next year? Keep on Rockin!

    Supertramp Brings Back Memories.

by runner1 on 2011-06-04Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

Even without Roger Hodgson, this version of Supertramp still managed to bring back memories of my days at university during the 1970's. Rick Davies, John Helliwell, Bob Siebenberg, and the newer members performed for two hours and did not disappoint. All the Supertramp hits were played and they sounded great.

    Just go.

by Clifftopher on 2011-06-04Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

This was my third time seeing them and i would say the best. I was worried about the Canucks playoff game conflict and heard and read some untrue and annoying rumours. I was thrilled that those rumours were wrong and the show 'went on' the next day and was AMAZING! It was the best crowd and the best show of the three time i've seen them and i look forward to the next time they come to town. Just go for Pete's sake.

A nice trip down memory lane

by LizG on 2011-06-04Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

Started a bit slow, as I didn't know a lot of their early stuff, but I got to appreciate it. Will be downloading one their live concerts before long. A nice blend of driving keyboards and horns, with the odd bit of visual effects thrown in. A solid two and half hours of music.

Supertramp were very good, got down to basics and played all the hits. Artists singing the Roger Hodgson vocals do an admirable job but hearing Roger live a few weeks back was still one of the top ten concerts on the retro circuit that I have been to. Sound quality was sketchy at start, Rick Davies inaudible. They got that sorted, then John Helliwell's critical rifts were underpowered. They got that sorted balance of show souind quality was good. A drawback to the Rogers venue seems to be the number of attendees that are not there to listen to the show. Row in front spent most of show carrying on various converstions, at some times yelling so as to be heard over Supertramp, bush league.

BEST CONCERT I'VE EVER BEEN TO

by IEscott on 2011-06-04Rogers Arena (formerly General Motors Place) - Vancouver

I was so bummed out when I learned that Roger Hodgson wasn't going to be performing with them, but honestly, it didn't even matter. Their new band members are simply fantastic, performing every single classic with them, and even some awesome lesser-known songs. They left School, Dreamer, and Crime of the Century for the encore. Unreal.
