Switchfoot at the Starlite - AMAZING!

by littlepenguin on 2010-01-16The Starlite Room - Edmonton

I was worried when I heard that they would be playing at such a small venue, but it turned out to be perfect! The show felt intimate. Jon Foreman actually jumped off the stage and walked through the crowd a few times. The only other times I've seen bands do this, it's usually been prearranged and they are accompanied by security. This show wasn't like that at all. Switchfoot put on a fantastic show in Edmonton. I almost wish that I could fly to Toronto to watch them again!

I've seen Switchfoot six times in various cities and venues, and, while they are consistently great, this was easily their best show. The smaller venue allowed for a lot of crowd interaction, at which they excel, including entire songs performed from within the audience and at various other points throughout the room. The setlist was also very strong, as they played their entire new album from start to finish for about an hour, and then spent another 45 minutes playing older songs. If you have a chance to see Switchfoot live, definitely go for it.

    Switchfoot was AMAZING

by DarDarla on 2010-01-16The Starlite Room - Edmonton

The venue was beautiful, the only downside was the lack of sitting space... I was lucky enough to get a seat overlooking the whole show but only because I lined up 2 hours early. Switchfoot was amazing, they were great on show and once they started singing it was non-stop fun.

Wow, what an experience! They give you 100% of themselves and leave nothing behind every night--pure entertainment in the true sense of the word-- and seem to get better and better, everytime I see them.

    Just what I expected

by Anonymous on 2010-01-16The Starlite Room - Edmonton

Switchfoot really follows through at their concerts by giving a really high energy performance that gets the audience involved. It's awesome to see them play in such a small personal venue where you can be a part of the experience.

Band was great! Unforgettable! But I didn't appreciate having to wait 90min for the opening act to come out. Being tardy is acceptable, afterall, everyone is, at one point or another; however, keeping people waiting (in a venue with very limited seats) for 90min is getting to be rude. I would have enjoyed the show more if my legs weren't cramping up from standing and waiting.

    Switchfoot were impressive!

by Anonymous on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

For a band that doesn't have a huge following, it's really a shame. This band is fantastic. They put on an amazing show, full of energy and they play so tight. Loved the concept of playing the new album in it's entirety followed by some older hits.

    So good

    by imdb39 on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

This is the 3rd time I've seen Switchfoot and they keep getting better and better. They started by singing 'Hello Hurricane' in its entirety, the whole 12 songs and continued with some brilliant songs from various older albums such as Gone, Meant To Live, 24, and many others, and they finished up with a wonderful encore of Dare You To Move, and needless to say I was moved, they played for 2 solid hours, amazing. I have been a fan of Switchfoot for many years and wish them continued success. The opening act 'Paper Tongues' started the show off well, the lead singer has tremendous stage presence.

    Blown Away

by Epheks on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I have been to a lot of concerts and the whole concept behind this one and how involved they were with the crowd was one of the best I have seen. Not only are the lyrics so powerful but the delivery and passion behind them live was perfect. I will come back to see them time and time again not only because I want to support Switchfoot and what they stand for but because I had a blast. Also everyone check out Paper Tongues, they were one of the best opening acts I have seen, pumped up the crowd.

Switchfoot just as solid in concert

by Jordano on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Switchfoot's new album Hello Hurricane is arguably there best yet! They played the album in it's entirety, from track one to track twelve! Moving from song to song you could witness how a band constructs an album behind one main theme. This theme of a storm coming and leaving is shown throughout the album and is impressive to watch live. All in all I was no disappointed in the slightest of Switchfoot's performance and recommend it as a show one must not miss!

    Switchfoot rocked Vancouver

by bigbirdsparrow on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Great show. There latest album is harder then their earlier pop sound and they played the entire new album to start their set followed by older stuff. Great lighting and sound. Band performed well. Frontman Foreman moved around the audiance and out into the crowd and proved he can lead a band well. Worth the ticket price.

The concert was amazing, and the Commodore Ballroom is always a good venue. Jon Foreman also had some very good things to say in between songs.

Switchfoot & Paper Tongue = AMAZING!

by laughing on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

My first impression of Paper Tongue was that I was a bit unsure but once they started playing I was amazed at how good of a show they put on, I bought their EP cd and will definitely be buying what will follow, these guys sound awesome with a rock vibe mixed with a hip hop feel. Would definitely recommend anyone to see them live, 10X better live than on the CD! Switchfoot was 50X better than expected, I went in with high hopes of an awesome show and they certainly delivered! They played their full "Hello Hurricane" cd start to finish before playing stuff from their previous 6 albums which made for the perfect length of a concert, much longer than some previously attended concerts that I have paid more for. The $22 tickets were a perfect price range but now that I've seen Switchfoot live I would definitely have paid more to see them! The setting at the Commodore was also very helpful in such a successful show, it had perfect sound and it was just the right size and intimacy for this group. I would definitely recomend anyone to go see either of these bands!

    What a show!

by LawyerGirl on 2010-01-14Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Switchfoot is as brilliant live as they are in the studio. This is a band who clearly loves its fans, and we love them right back! They played Hello Hurricane cover to cover, before moving on and playing a bunch of our faves from albums past. This was an amazing concert! I hope they come back soon!
