About

The Chicks are one of country music’s most influential and boundary-pushing groups. Formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1989 by sisters Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks) rocketed to pop stardom with the addition of lead vocalist Natalie Maines in 1995. The multi-platinum trio would go on to win 12 Grammy Awards and become the best-selling female band of all time in the U.S., with 33 million albums sold worldwide. By blending honky-tonk with bluegrass and soaring pop vocals, The Chicks appealed to a diverse audience that stretched far beyond their country roots. Signature hits like 1999’s “Cowboy Take Me Away” and 1998’s “Wide Open Spaces,” along with their bluegrass virtuosity, saw The Chicks go from opening for Tim McGraw in 1999 to headlining massive concert tours that have sold over $100 million in tickets. 2020’s Gaslighter (produced by Jack Antonoff) was The Chicks’ first album in 14 years, and the catalyst for a 2023 tour where country-pop superstar Maren Morris will join the trio on a string of dates.

  • Dixie Chicks were awesome!

    by Leoni3 on 2013-11-08MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

They definitely were worth going to see. Enjoyed it all except for the opening act. Could not see him at all from where we were and they did not put him on overhead monitors. Plus his music put me to sleep. But I woke up again when the Chicks came on! They gave a great show. The audience loved them!!!!

  • New seating saved the day - great concert!

by sdon on 2013-11-08Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5

Our original seating was extremely disappointing - all we could see was rafters and a small part of the stage. However, fortunately a staff member gave us new tickets for a section just opened up near the stage, and this allowed us to have a fabulous time. While we were extremely grateful for these new seats we knew that seeing the concert from our original seating would have been a big let-down. Credit Union Centre should not be selling tickets for seats that have limited view of the stage and no view of the video screens - all we could see was rafters. The concert was fabulous and we would definitely see the Dixie Chicks again should they come to Saskatoon.

A great concert! The 2 hour concert felt like they had only been performing an hour - tops! Time flew by...I wanted more!!!

  • Dixie Chicks - are some talented women!

by Spectaculiar on 2013-11-08MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing! They sound great live, it was so great to see them. It would have been nice to hear the sisters talk a bit but they let Natalie take the lead which is fine, Only negative is that it was a late night for a Tuesday lol

I went to see the Dixie Chicks mainly because my husband was a fan, however, I am a fan now. The show was fun and unforgettable. Couldn't help but stand and dance to the music. Loads of fun, the arena was rocking.

by Budzeye on 2013-11-08MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Show was to be expected! Fantastic! Excellent! The Chicks may have been away from the limelight however this show shows how fantastic musically they are! Just can't say enough! WOW!

  • Chicks put on an impressive show

    by Trish3 on 2013-11-08MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 4 out of 5

The Dixie Chicks put on an impressive show in Winnipeg, showcasing both their fan favorite hits and new album numbers. I think it would have served them a little better to intersperse these rather than play chronologically. The encore they gave was fantastic as well and the Dixie Chicks definitely brought their best for Winnipeg.

They sounded great but no new songs, it felt like a replay of 7 years ago. Its too bad that people feel they have to stand up to enjoy the concert, in our area there were 10 people in a group that basically stood for the entire concert blocking the view of about 20 that were seated, 2 ladies in front of us had obvious difficulty walking to thier seats ( one had a cane) and were unable to stand for any length of time even if they wanted to, a guest sitting beside them had asked the group of 10 to please sit down so they could see, he was basically blown off by them. No one from the MTS crew interviened on thier behalf so the ladies may have just as well been listening to a CD, not the way I would have wanted to spend $220 bucks and not see the talent on the stage. Maybe people that want to stand for the concerts should consider purchasing floor seats in the future as eveyone there was standing for the entire show. Be respectful people.....

  • Dixie Chicks Long Time Gone Tour

by Twandalives on 2013-11-08MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing, wonderful, powerful, exceptional, PRICELESS. The Chicks were introduced as the worlds best all time girl band. Truer words have not been spoken. These ladies have so much talent it is beyond description. Marnie and Emily bring the entire group together. Natalie never fails to elicit goosebumps with her incredible vocals. Her ability to poke at current events is always something I look forward to. The Dixie Chicks have become part of every aspect of my adult life, we have grown together over the years. Thank you for sharing all your talent. The concert was my 3rd time seeing them and I will continue to see them every chance I can. Charlie was a tad low key for an opening act, but amazing and a talent in his own right. Thanks to all for a great evening.

  • Chicks love Canada

    by JimS1955 on 2013-11-08MTS Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

The Winnipeg fans loved the Dixie Chicks, singing along and sometimes drowning them out..a la "Earl had to die". By the end of the non-stop, wild energy concert, it was clear they were having as much fun with us as we were listening and watching them perform. It was an amazing concert and they've been way too "long time gone". America step aside, we've adopted your Chicks as our own.

I am not normally a country music fan, my wife and friends wanted to go to this concert now glad they talked me into going as it was very good.

  • Dixie Chicks: Great to see you back!

by CPRW on 2013-11-06Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

First, I must say that I really liked Charlie Mars but I thought that about 70% of the crowd was quite rude while he was playing! They were all just sitting around talking very loudly. It was very irritating and distracting. Back to the Dixie Chicks! I know they missed a couple of songs but you can't get them all in in a concert unless it goes on longer! The ones they did were terrific. It was an absolutely terrific show! Natalie has such a strong voice!! They were great! Just as if they took no time off!
