This was my third time seeing The Dudes live and as always, they put on a great show. Unfortunately we couldnt stay for the whole thing because they started pretty late as there were two opening acts. The first opening act was fabulous but the second one was terrible. They should have just started when the second act went.
Very energizing band. Sounds amazing, crowd pleasing. Great variety in tunes.
High energy, amazing performance by the dudes and the venue is a great size and layout for this event.
After an amazing time last year I was really looking forwatd to this show. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed. We were told it was a mandatory coat check while we were in line,which was fine and made sense, but the guy who told us said we could stay in line and check them when we got our tickets scanned and IDs checked. When we got to the door we were told that we should have checked them before and we would have to get back in line by a power trippinng event manager. We explained what we had been told before and he scoffed and then conceded. Doors were late which we chalked up to sound check running late which would have been fine if The Dudes didn't proceed to do a sound check when they finally got on stage, and then the feedback for their first 3 songs was still brutal. The opening band went on late and then didn't seem prepared or to care at all. All 3 of their songs were maybe 2 minutes long and sounded exactly the same and you couldn't understand the singer at all. Everything was auto tuned and warped and sounded experimental but in a bad way. Someone booed and they walked off the stage almost immediately after. Not professional at all. Then we waited what seemed like forever for the Dudes to come on, the first 3 songs had terrible feedback. It got better but not good enough for us to stay all the way to the end. When they announced their last song it was as if he didn't care if we had liked it or not and was just ready to leave so we left.
The Dudes put on such an amazing show... not only is their music incredible, world class really, but they work hard at making the audience get into their show. They built up the anticipation then really performed well. You could tell they didn't just show up for the paycheque. They wanted the audience to have a great night!! Can't wait to see them again!!
The Dudes were great but the venue and the event were poor. The tickets said that the event started at 8pm but we waited outside in the cold until 8:30 to be let in to the venue (Wyckham House: Mount Royal University). The venue was lit brightly, lacked ambience, and was playing canned music. The opening band was mediocre and played for a long time. Then there was "amateur hour" burlesque dancers which were poor and out of place and seemed very strange because by that time (11:30pm) everyone just wanted The Dudes to get on stage and were tired of all the mediocre preamble before the main event. Once on stage, The Dudes were awesome! Overall a fun night but poorly organized and a pretty poor venue.
