About

The Head and the Heart in Concert

With an infectious style that combines folk, country, pop, and smart songwriting, Seattle, Washington's The Head and The Heart have earned a reputation as a consummate live act, charming concertgoers with their layered arrangements and intricate vocal harmonies. In 2013, the band released their most confident and mature album to date, Let's Be Still, featuring lead single "Shake," an indie folk stomper that perfectly captures the energy of the band's live performances. After meeting at various open mic nights around Seattle, the band officially formed in 2009, touring the Pacific Northwest before releasing their self-titled 2010 debut album. The buzz of that album attracted the interest of several labels, and the band ultimately signed to Sub Pop Records, who re-released The Head and The Heart LP in April 2011 with additional material including "Down In The Valley, "Lost in My Mind," and "Rivers and Roads." The band toured widely throughout 2010 and 2011 as a supporting act for Dave Matthews, Death Cab For Cutie, and The Decemberists, also headlining their own shows before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. On tour in 2013, the band impressed ticket buyers with their eclectic live concerts, leading audiences through foot-stomping sing-alongs of the indie folk anthems they've become known for.

The Head and the Heart will release their four studio album called Living Mirage on May 17, 2019. They start touring in the summer of 2019 with 39 dates in support of the new album along with the alternative rock band Hippo Campus on select dates.

    Amazing performance

by vankendall on 2016-12-09Vancouver Orpheum - Vancouver

Great showman - kept the crowd on it's feet the whole show. They actually know how to sing so it sounds very much like it would on their album!

    Just OK...

by drweiner on 2016-12-02Metropolis - Montreal

Not the best sound; vocals were muddled. Also need to work on that set list- too many songs with same tempo back to back. And too short. Just over an hour long.

The Head and the Heart are polished and amazing.

by THATHfan on 2014-12-10State Theatre - Portland

Saw this band 2 years ago and loved them but they have improved so much since then. Amazing energy and a great flow to their show. The best concert I have seen in years! I highly recommend going if they come to your area.

You just can't beat true talent

by TheRealDeadHeadInThePeg on 2014-04-10Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

Anyone listening to The Head and The Heart might wonder, "how will that gorgeous three part harmony, collective instrumentation and the overall vibe translate to a live setting"? The answer: 100% perfectly. This is a band with no egos. Instruments are swapped, lead vocals are swapped. The harmony vocals are amazing (move over Eagles - just sayin', the Eagles can sing, regardless of what else you might think of them). Played songs from both albums. Did a track with Basia Bulat and her band (opening act). Obviously a group of good friends making music that they love. No one in the audience sat down. Right from the beginning of the show to the end. Closed with "Rivers and Roads". The concert could have ended there and satisfied me. However more music was in store for the encores. Unbelievably good show. Sound was great. Basia Bulat (opening act) rocked. I'd see her as a headliner.

The Head and The Heart were so great, there wasn't a person who wasn't tapping their toes, or clapping their hands, at some point in the concert. The drummer was AMAZING!!! I would definately see them again, should the chance arise!!

    Great Band, Great Upgraded Venue

by JordanWM on 2014-04-03London Music Hall - LONDON

For years I've wanted a small/mid-size quality venue for music in London. The Music Hall has gone through a number of transformations over the years and I've watched with great interest. The new setup and sound system (once tuned in) was fantastic and on point for the entire show. Head and the Heart were amazing as was expected. They owned the stage and crowd. Lets hope this band, and this act is the start of a new wave of quality musical acts to come to London.

The head and the Heart was phenomenal.

by Londontown on 2014-04-03London Music Hall - LONDON

Band was super tight. They knew what everyone else was doing so the sound came through with a sense of team as opposed to bunch of people on stage at the same time. The sound system wasn't perfect so when they adlibbed between songs it wasn't always clear what they were saying.

Sound wasn't great, performance was decent. Light show was the worst I've seen - blinding spotlights were annoying.

    Amazing show!!

    by steff56822 on 2013-11-11Webster Hall - NYC

After seeing the Head and the Heart in Toronto, my husband and I decided to book last minute tickets to their show in NYC at the Webster Hall - and we were both so happy that we did! They show was truly amazing. They played a variety of songs from their first and second albums - I was very impressed with the set list. Despite their often slower and more mellow songs, the show was incredibly upbeat. The audience loved it - you could feel the energy coming off the audience as they enjoyed the show - and the band seemed humbled. It was a wonderful show. I would highly recommend seeing the Head and the Heart - to anyone who hasn't yet had the pleasure.

    Great show!

by steff56822 on 2013-11-04The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

This was my second time seeing the Head and the Heart (1st time was at Osheaga this past year) and I have to say, they put on an amazing show - the show at Osheaga was a bit disjointed, slow-paced and a little disorganized... all in all I wasn't thrilled. But since their new album is unbelievably epic, I decided to give the live show another chance. AND GOOD THING I DID. The show was amazing. Their live sound was incredible and they put on a fantastic show. I can truly say I was entertained the entire show. Osheaga must have been an anomaly for them. The live show at the Danforth Music Hall was so good, that I have decided to see them again this week in NYC. Looking forward to it.

Must-see: The Head and The Heart

by Dreas on 2012-03-15The Opera House - Toronto

I wasn't into the 2 opening bands. Like at all. It seems like yelling is the next big thing in both Portland and Virginia. Really, really bad. And so dramatic. But The Head and The Heart redeemed the night and put on a purely incredible show. Highlights are when the band quiets down and the 3 leads gift us with their beautiful harmonies. Considering THATH only have one full album, it's really amazing how many great songs they have. And the new ones sound great as well. I think they'll be around for a while. Looking forward to their new recording when they have time to get in the studio. And for their next tour. I'll definitely be there. But please, bring a new opener! Like maybe a double bill with The Low Anthem?

The Commodore Ballroom is one of the greatest venues I've ever been to. It is a light atmosphere with a fitting dance floor and accessible and open lounge areas. When sitting, it was easy to get drinks and food - the service is fantastic. As for The Head and The Heart and Thao with The Get Down Stay Down - incredible! Both bands were abounding in energy, and one could tell that they truly love what they're doing... and this was at the end of the tour! The Head and the Heart were actively involved with their audience; I couldn't help but dance! I would recommend this event without hesitation.

One of the best shows I have ever seen

by DiniBobo on 2011-10-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

I go to a lot of shows....a lot (Seen about 150 bands live). Some might say I have a problem. This show was easily in the top 3 of shows I have ever seen (White Stripes and ACDC also make the list). It was a magical combination of band chemistry, sheer, raw emotion on stage, audience engagement, beautiful harmonies, incredible and varying levels of energy depending on the song, a complete sound (6 member band that works perfectly together: priceless) and an amazing venue (LOVE the Commodore). Every (EVERY) song they performed was incredible. I am so happy that I had the chance to see this band before they blow up: and the will. If they do not, it is a sad statement for the quality of music there is out there right now. GO SEE THIS BAND

    Head and the heart rude

by SleepyNuts on 2011-10-22Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver

Who advertises a showtime of 800pm and gets on stage at 1100pm on a Thursday night? Just bloody rude and inconsiderate !
