About

When several hit TV programs like The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and Grey’s Anatomy featured the Naked and Famous’ catchy-as-heck music, the buzz surrounding this New Zealand indie rock outfit became uncontainable, spreading to Great Britain, Europe, the U.S. and Asia. Fans couldn’t get enough of the anthemic, synthpop gems “Punching in a Dream,” “Young Blood,” “Girls Like You” and “Hearts Like Ours,” creating demand for Naked & Famous tickets around the globe. Critics and fans alike have praised their flawless live shows that conjure a mood both dreamy and danceable, reminiscent of acts like The Killers, MGMT, Passion Pit, and, at times, containing hints of Björk and Kid A-era Radiohead. Alisa Xyalith and Thom Powers vocals blend in harmonic perfection over moderate tempo synth beats, belting out highly melodic, bittersweet tunes that are an odd blend of melancholy and exuberant. No wonder that fan devotion is off the charts, making The Naked & Famous concert tickets valuable commodities indeed.

Even though this is a relatively young band, they all played very well together.

    First time; not my last

by AshleyM on 2011-10-10The Phoenix Concert Theatre - Toronto

The first opening act was better than the second but when he Naked and Famous came on stage all was fogotten. They have so much passion and really capture the audience. The interaction with the people is heart-felt and the sound was equivalant to listening to the record. Afterwards I managed to get the setlist and meet four out of the five band members. They made time to converse with fans and were really down to earth. They more than willingly signed my set list as well as my album cover and David went far and beyond by having the absent member sign, too. Thanks for an awesome performance!!!

Thought TNAF was excellent. Even more surprising was how great The Chain Gang of 1974 was.

So good I wanted to forcibly remove my clothes

by DanBobo on 2011-08-11Lee's Palace - Toronto

Listening to the vocals throughout the track may make you wonder- what kind of auto tune fanatic was apart of this? How can the pitch and tone of all the vocals be so remarkably eloquent? The truth is this stems from pure talent and it is absolutely notable when you see The Naked and Famous play live. After being to far too many pop concerts as a child I just expect the talent to be lip-synching to their own music as they distract you with outlandish spectacles and performances. This is why, in this day and age, seeing a person or group of people with real talent can strike me as rather shocking. I can only imagine that sounding exactly like the recorded studio version of a song is not easy for some artists to recreate. For this, watching Thom and Alisa singing gave me immediate goose bumps that remained there for the rest of the show. In short, you can feel their passion throughout each track making it a worthwhile performance. My only criticism- the next show needs to be much longer next time!

    Great Live Vocals

    by concertfan1 on 2011-08-11Lee's Palace - Toronto

Great vocals are not always guaranteed when you see a live act, but this band can really sing! Live sound very close to their recorded versions, the singles really stood out :'Punching in a Dream', 'Girls like you' and of course 'Young Blood'. Good set, nice price ($20) and $20 concert Tees, go see them in October at the Phoenix.
