A new take on serial killers

    by Camilla on 2024-12-05

Dr. Rachel Toles is profoundly knowledgeable on the topic of serial killers. She is a great speaker and presents her findings well. She has a new take that approaches killers with humanity and empathy as she seeks to understand how these people come to be killers. It’s a provocative mission because ultimately she is asking us as the audience to look at ourselves, maybe we could have become serial kills under a specific set of circumstances. How can we better understand these individuals so we can prevent deaths? Have never heard a speaker take is approach and it’s riveting. Can’t recommend watching her speak enough, if you are like me and have become bored with typical and exploitative serial killer content… you will love this tour!

    Very Enlightening

by Ginger on 2024-11-18The Pearl Showroom, Pure Casino Yellowhead - Edmonton

The presentation was very upbeat, many case studies. Audience fascination with Serial Killers explained not as odd but curiosity. I felt I was given understanding of how these people developed. Dr Toles seems to have compassion for this group, without giving the impression that they should be released. It was reinforced that bullying was a strong negative factor in their development. Lizzy Bourne’s warm up and facilitator for question and answer was well done. I learned a lot from the presentation

    A Fascinating and In-Depth Evening

    by Ian Clark on 2024-11-17

In addition to her nuanced understanding of the toxic cultures that breed serial killers, Doctor Toles is a wonderful storyteller and a delight to spend an evening with. I came in misunderstanding so much of how and why serial killers occur and I’m so glad Dr. Toles was able to shed light on the real reasons. I’m going to catch this show every time it comes to town.

Incredible, informative and a true enjoyment.

    by Rose! <3 on 2024-11-17

Renowned forensic psychologist Dr. Rachel Toles speaks on serial killers in not only an interesting way, but in a in-depth way regarding the science behind their behaviours. I’ve never experienced an event where I had all of my nitty gritty questions answered until her show! Dr. Toles’ way of educating and interacting with the audience left me feeling more in awe of her than I did before. On the contrary with Rachel Toles’ heavy discussions, Lizzie Bourne grounds the room through laughter with hilariously funny bits, resulting in an incredible show worth every bit of your time. There wasn’t a single moment I wasn’t invested in the topics of discussion. I’m incredibly grateful I got to come out to see both of them! Whether you’re a true crime junkie, or are being dragged out by your true crime junkie partner, I guarantee you’ll have an amazing and captivating time. I truly cannot recommend this show enough. Dr. Rachel Toles truly is a gem in the forensic psychology world!

    Psycho Killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?

by Starry T on 2024-11-15Burton Cummings Theatre - Winnipeg

What a fantastic evening! Dr. Toles took us through the "formula"that creates a serial killer, and laid out how several infamous serial killers demonstrate the accuracy of the formula. With wit and humour, she outlines the factors that can lead someone, anyone, to the breaking point where a killer is born. A great, informative and interesting show!
