I had so much fun at the Roundup Music Festival. Loved the photo ops, non-alcoholic drink options and of course great music. Lots of room in the general admission area and also lots of shade in the area to beat the heat. My only complaint is the lack of food trucks. There was only two food trucks and one sold mainly treats. Then there was a caterer tent. All three had huge line-ups for most of the night and a lot of people waited over an hour for food. It would have been nice to have more options and smaller lines.

  • Mostly alright

by Tired of corporate entitlement on 2024-07-15Prince's Island Park - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

The show was pretty well paced between performers and enough of a break in-between. There was a lot of table hogging in the blue VIP section by some very over privileged people and just a feeling of overall entitlement. I paid the same price as them, but was being treated like I was a party crashing hobo.

  • Goo Goo Dolls were great, but venue lacked

by Earl on 2024-07-15Prince's Island Park - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

I have been going to the round up every year since it was being held back at Fort Calgary, and I think this was the worst one I have ever attended. CTD and Goo Good dolls were great acts, but Gin Blossoms I thought lacked energy...and the venue as a whole just seemed lacking energy from other years. I am a beer drinker as well, and wish they had other options other than Phillips, as its not great beer. I will think twice about going next year if it's in the same venue and same beer sponsors.

  • Great show, great venue

by OjaySee on 2024-07-14Prince's Island Park - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a fan of Gin Blossoms for 30 years and I was at Stampede Roundup mainly to see them. I thought they put on a great show with a nice mix of all their hits and several deeper cuts. As singer Robin Wilson said early in the show: "We're going to put on a competent, professional show for you."Well done, guys - you nailed it. I had seen Goo Goo Dolls at a previous festival over at Millennium Park a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised to be reminded how good in concert they are. Too bad the fight in front of the stage interrupted what was otherwise a really good show. It was a treat to finally see Crash Test Dummies, an eclectic band that has some great songs. Their sound is quite a bit different from the jangly power-pop of Gin Blossoms and Goo Goo Dolls, but I appreciated Crash Test Dummies back in their heyday of the 90s and they still sound pretty good today. One last comment about the venue: it's about time! Prince's Island Park, with its shade and beautiful setting along the river, is so much better than either Fort Calgary (or whatever they are calling it now) or Millennium Park. The Folk Festival figured this out decades ago; I'm glad the organizers of this event finally did, too. Looking forward to going to many future Stampede Roundup and Oxford Stomps events here.

  • Goo goo dolls and gin Blossoms amazing!!

by Lisa on 2024-07-14Prince's Island Park - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

My sister and I went to the Goo Goo Dolls and Gin Blossoms performance. It was incredible and wonderful vendors set up. My only issue with this is that it seemed only general admission had access to the very front of the stage. It would have been nice if VIP and general admission both shared access to the stage to have a better be view of the musicians and artists. VIP was off to the right side. Not sure about ULTRA VIP access. But it would be nice if all 3 could have had shared the stage visibility.

  • The Shows were Awesome and most of staff were Amazing

by Ingrid K on 2024-07-14Prince's Island Park - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Should have had clear showtime posting. Free water considering the high heat temperatures or at least water stations. Some form of seating with how long the wait between shows for the general public. As some do have disabilities and need to be able to sit. Cash should be able to be taken as out

  • Bands Good, Drinks Fast, Food 1.5hr lineup

by Liz on 2024-07-14Prince's Island Park - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

The bands that played were great. You could get a drink in under five minutes. However - the biggest downfall was the ridiculous lack of food options. One catering tent and 3 food trucks total - two of which were for sweets. It took 1.5hrs in lineup to get something to eat. I missed an entire set in line. Wouldn’t go again.

  • Great talent - Well executed!

It only makes sense that this type of venue be held at PIP. Specious and well laid out, everything was very well planned. I look forward to future events by this organizer!!
