BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Guitarist/vocalist Hutch Harris met bassist and musical kindred spirit Kathy Foster after graduating from high school in San Jose in 1993. Together, the two played in bands like Haelah, Hutch & Kathy, and Urban Legends before relocating to Portland, OR in 1998. After settling in to the City of Roses they started The Thermals in 2002, releasing their self-recorded debut More Parts per Million the following year. Death Cab for Cutie and Postal Service frontman Ben Gibbard championed the album and presented it to the folks at Sub Pop Records, who inked The Thermals to a three-record deal less than six-months after the band’s formation. The Thermals’ 2006 album The Body, The Blood, The Machine garnered praise from outlets like NPR, Pitchfork, and AV Club, helping the band set out on their first headlining tour. The Thermals haven’t looked back since, continuing to deliver high-octane performances and infectious records—including 2016’s We Disappear—to fans everywhere.
